PUPPY FACTS!

‘YOUR PUPPY ISN’T A CLEAN SLATE BY THE TIME THEY ARRIVE IN YOUR HOME AT 8 WEEKS OF AGE!’

There are a wide variety of factors which will contribute to your newly arrived pups’ behaviour – even before your pup is even born!

Lets get scientific!

Your pups’ behaviour is going to be determined by genes passed down from parents, grand parents, great grandparents etc...

BUT....

Genes can be altered by the parents and grand parents so to provide the next generation with the best possible chance of surviving in the environment they will be born in.

This is called EPIGENETICS!

To put it as simply as possible....

For example....

If we have a dog who is born on a breeding farm, not treated very well and is fearful most of the time, the DNA of this dog will be altered so to pass on to the future generation.

This DNA may tell the future born puppies that they need a fear response in order to fight or get away in this volatile and unpredictable environment that they will be born in, giving them a greater chance of survival.

So these pups will likely be born scared, worried and stressed, with a higher chance of developing behavioural problems such as reactivity and aggression towards people or dogs.

From this example, you can see just how complex behaviour can be, and gives just one example to why it’s so so important to choose your pups’ breeder carefully.

Choose a good breeder so that you will be making sure that you have a genetically healthy, happy, confident puppy arriving at your home by 8 weeks old, who is physically able to cope with the world that we put them in.

By doing so, you will be setting them up for successful future as your family pet!
