Spaniels can’t heel
🧡Buddy was a serious puller.
💙Oakley was reactive to dogs and would tell them off from a short distance growling and lunging.
🐶I trained them both the heel command separately
and then brought them together.
🐕They say Spaniels are naturally pulley, but this is not the case.
✨ANY dog can be trained to walk nicely on the Lead.
💫Once you find a method, keep to it and be
consistent, as this is the 🔑to achieving this goal.

If your dog really understands what heel means, taking the lead off shouldn’t make a difference to the heel position. Taking the lead off shouldn’t mean you can bolt off. This is something that can be achieved & YES even a Spaniel can do this.

This lovely staffy X, when I started walking her, she was a big puller, so we worked on loose lead walking everyday and she understood what was asked of her with one word command “heel” no bribing, or repeating myself. We do use daily food (no treats or bowl feeding) as a motivator to motivate the dog into a behaviour which is heel.
