I continued with some environmental work for Marley this morning, including a stroll through the centre - Marley is still working on socialisation, and the different sights, sounds, smells and surfaces are all good practice for developing his confidence and calmness when he's out and about 🐾

I enjoyed a shady walk in the woods with Basil, spending some time focusing on building his confidence with me before adding any other dogs in with him as he's a little bit unsure about being out with someone new.

He already seemed more relaxed today, so I'm sure he'll come out of his shell over the next few walks. He's such a handsome dog! ☺️🐾

Marley enjoyed some playtime with this furry tuggy this morning, which kept his training walk varied and fun for him 🐾😀

The right toy can be an excellent motivator during training, especially with a dog that isn't very food driven 👍

Basil had a lovely trial walk today - he was calm and gentle, even when we saw a deer walking down the path ahead of us ☺️🐾
I'm used to dogs with high prey drive, so it was quite a surprise to see so little reaction!

It was too hot again for Loki, so we had a nice time in the house instead - I challenged him to learn a few new tricks so his brain was exercised. The weather forecast looks hopeful for a good run on Thursday, though! 🌞🐾

This morning, I came across a loose dog in town, and luckily, I was quickly able to contact the owner to get the dog home because they had ensured there was a clear tag on the dog's collar 👍 he'd got out of the garden without anyone realising.

Do you know what the law says about collars and tags for dogs?

The Control of Dogs Order 1992 states that any dog in a public space (i.e. outside your house) must wear a collar marked with the name and address (including postcode) of the owner. These details can be written on the collar or engraved on a tag attached to the collar. The law doesn't require a phone number to be included, but this is definitely a good idea! Failure to comply with this law could result in a £5000 fine.

Tia and Loki had their trial walk this morning and were a pleasure to walk 👍 Look at those happy faces 🥰🐾

For my group walks, I like to begin with dogs from one household, on long lines. This allows me to assess their characters and energy, check their recall, and get to know them a bit before they join a group. I will often then add Raven into the mix for the next walk - as a young dog raised as part of a group, she has a great understanding of the social rules of dog groups and always responds appropriately if another dog tells her off, which allows me to safely assess how new dogs will interact with others before joining a group walk.

I pride myself on paying attention to all the little details and taking the time to ensure all dogs in my care have a happy and safe experience 🙂🐾

I was out early this morning with Marley while it was still cool enough, doing a mix of recall practice & some environmental work with other dogs nearby 🐾

It's going to be a scorcher today, so there won't be any other walks for me today 🥵

Brought over a cool mat for these two to try out today - used a few treats to encourage them, and they were very curious. Hopefully, they will make good use of it during the heat 🤞
Cool mats can be a great tool to support your cats and dogs on hot days 🐾

Loki's walk this afternoon was switched for a home visit due to the heat 🥵. The van thermometer said it was 34°C outside! We had to pop outside for a minute so he could go to the toilet, and he was panting instantly. Take care with your doggos in this weather!

Loki still had a good time having a play and doing some fun training activities to ensure he had some enrichment during his afternoon at home 🐾

We've switched Marley to morning walks with the heat at the moment 🥵 so we were out bright and early after I'd taken Raven for a run in the woods. Marley walked beautifully on lead this morning - he's doing so well with his training 👏☺️

I'm enjoying getting to know these two kitties this week ☺️ making sure they get fresh food and water, lots of playtime, and a chance for some cuddles. Little Sephy is a bit more confident with me than Obie, but he's starting to come around & was happy to take his food from me this morning.

As we've got some hot weather this week, I'm keeping the garden watered too, so nothing dries out too much 🤞🌻
