As some of you may already know, we are taking some time off to attend my daughter's 👰💍 in 🇺🇸.

Therefore, we will be closing the shop and groom room from the 14th to the 23rd of September.

There will also be no home delivery service during that time, so please ensure you order before we go.

This lovely chap came in with a lot of tartar build up on his teeth. 🦷
As you can see from the photos, most of the build up has been removed after a one hour session, using the Emmi-Pet teeth cleaning service we have on offer. 🪥🦷😁

After a 2 1/2 year break from the show ring, I decided to enter Odin into the Paignton Champ show.
I was a little nervous with how he was going to be, as he was last in the show ring when he was 11 months of age.
This boy did me proud today!! He took it all in his stride and performed like he'd never had a break. ❤️☺️

Darren planned a surprise birthday getaway, which he told me about last week, (not that I'm complaining!!) 😜
The shop will still be open as normal, although there will be no home deliveries or grooming appointments until Saturday.
See you all in a couple of days.... hopefully with a tan! 🤣🤣

This beautiful boy popped in for his nail trim today 😊.
He was very good for Tina and I, and wore his muzzle throughout the process.
Afterwards, I removed his muzzle so he could have a well earned drink to keep him cool!

Another 'before and after' teeth cleaning session today.
This fella came in for a teeth cleaning treatment last November.
As you can see in the photos, he has quite a bit of tartar and staining which has occurred within 8 months.
We recommend cleaning your dogs teeth regularly to avoid oral disease, tooth loss and expensive vets bills.

This young chap, who is in temporary care, came in today for a much needed makeover!
As a previous groomer was unable to carry out a groom due to his aggressive behaviour, we asked his carer to bring him in for an assessment during the week, to determine whether or not we would be able to work with him.
We suggested that we would see how he is, but a muzzle would be necessary throughout the process.
Although we had moments of aggressive behaviour, we managed to complete the necessary works. The whole process took just over 4 hours. This allowed him breaks in-between the groom so he could have refreshments, toilet breaks and a nap.
Unfortunately the coat wasn't salvageable due to the severity of the matt's, but we did manage to keep the typical Cockerpoo head, even with the risk of removing the muzzle. As you can see in the photo,the matting on his feet were full of grass seeds.

Plaque & Tartar In Dogs
Plaque is a sticky substance comprised of bacteria, saliva, and food particles, that forms several hours after a dog eats and accumulates on their teeth. If it isn't removed (e.g. brushed) away after 24 hours, this plaque starts to harden by combining with the salts found in saliva. As plaque continues to harden and mineralize, it turns into tartar. Tartar (a.k.a. calculus) is a porous, rough substance that can form above and below a dog's gumline. Once plaque and tartar have hardened on your dog's teeth, it is time to seek professional help!

As tartar forms its rough surface, it gives bacteria places to hide and grow. This bacteria can cause a condition called gingivitis (early-stage gum disease). The symptoms of gingivitis include inflamed, painful, and bleeding gums. If gingivitis goes untreated, it can turn into periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is the most advanced stage of gum disease where the gums become even more painful, inflamed, and start to recede, which could eventually result in missing teeth.

Tartar and dental issues don't just affect your dog's mouth! Bacteria can spread throughout your pup's body by being absorbed into the bloodstream, having the potential to cause problems with other organs such as the kidneys and heart.

This photo was taken during a tooth cleaning session this morning. The plaque was safely removed from the dogs rear molars. Unfortunately, there was evidence of gingivitis and decay on the molars.
