This is Alisia one of our three ball pythons who found herself coming to us and will be stay with us forever. She wasn't happy were she came from due to living in a clear box on top of a high shelf of snakes right at the top without a hide or any form for cover to hide herself. She could not trust us when we brought her home and gave her everything she could possible need to feel safe, happy and comfortable. She would always pop her head out to watch us when we came in the room and she even struck the glass when we passed a couple of times. It has taken us lots of time to establish a bond with her and now she is one of the most docile snakes out of all of ours. She is so sweet natured, relaxed and a completely different snake from the one we brought home over two years ago. We love her dearly and so glad she has settled down with us nicely and feels comfortable.
Our snakes all most definitely have extremely different personalities. Certain behaviours will be developed from fear and discomfort in their enviroment, even if it's just the smallest of reasons. This can be because of feeling to exposed from lack of hiding spaces, how you approach a snake to pick them up or even just noise and a busy environment. These are just a few examples. Normally there is a reason for these defensive, protective behaviours and they can be changed and lots of patience. Making improvements, even if it's just by providing hides and lots of hiding spaces and can really make a huge difference. It will make both your snake and anyone who around your snake happier and much safer.
