So chuffed for Jack our farrier. We had some issues with (A force to recon)Worky, just how things go with young horses, he was a rascal!! He wasn't right when pulling up at Warwick for us. Fortunately Jack resisted calling it a day and sending him to the sales.

A win at Badbury Rings today makes the blood sweat and tears, truly worth while

The next part of our gallop 🏇🏼 installation was started yesterday. New hedge plants were dug in which, will grow to mimic the classic Devon and Dartmoor hedge rows we have here. We are very grateful to our club members who came along to help 💪🏼 and Josh who stayed out all day popping bamboo canes in. Team work makes the dream work.

Time to play with next seasons recruits . Squeak certainly lives up to her name. She has an awful lot to say for herself 🎵🎼 .

Squeak is a 3yo ot of Darn Hot by Scorpion . We are all incredibly fond of her as she was the last born out of Darn Hot but unfortunately at just 2 months old Darn Hot died leaving us to make sure she was eating enough. Joshua our son used to sit out in the field every day with her feed. Her personality has always shone through⭐️ and never fails to make us smile 😊

Life! Especially it seems racing life can be a harsh test in so many ways.

Today I rode Dropitlikeitshot (Tails) for the last time. It was ment to be a little leg stretch in preparation for her race tomorrow at Plumpton. As she breezed along ears pricked and feeling as enthusiastic as ever, I suddenly fealt her go wrong. You hope it's not what you fear but this time it was.

Tails unfortunately sustained a life ending injury to a hind leg. The vet had to tell me she couldn't be saved.

Tails was the 4th foal from by beautiful mare/friend Darn Hot (Tojo). So we have had her here at Higher Whiddon all her life. She was small at only 15h . What she lacked in size she made up for enthusiasm. She was never going to be taking us to the spring festivals but she gave our The Chris Honour Racing Club some great days out.

Freya who works with us and Becky Alice Honour both enjoyed riding her and I know they will both miss her dearly.

We picked our selves up and took Time to bite and Mayhem Mya to Exeter this afternoon. No wins or places but it was and always will be a privilege to train these wonderful equine athletes for racing, but best of all to rug them up, feed them turning the lights out knowing they are happy and safe. We will have to see what tomorrow brings but let's hope it's a better day.

Who remembers Balkeo? Here he is enjoying his new home 🏡. We and his previous owner are so pleased that he is getting on so well and clearly adored already.

How lovely has this ☀️ been. Today we gave two of our young horses Roxy and Snip an encouraging ❤️ canter between two of our more experienced mares Mayhem and Dropitlikeitshot. Enjoyable and relaxed early education is key 🗝️ to their development.

Time to bite (Rasher) never ceases to make us smile 😁 He is a real character and seems to have learned to do this himself. He actually shut it with 1 good push!! He was probably protesting that he had already shut it once when I thought I ought to video it and re opened it . 3rd time lucky 🤣

We ❤️ owner visit days and by the looks of it so does Sprout 🐶. Thank you for the cakes and carrots 🥕!
This is our broodmare syndicate horse The Last Bar and Pete a 2yo.
The Last Bar is in foal to Logician who stands at Shade Oak Stud I've kept 10% of this one for myself (don't tell Chris 😂) So excited 😆.
Pete is by Dartmouth who also stands at Shade Oak and is very much loved by his family 🏇🏼. Future racehorses pending.....

Pougie 💜 just ran a lovely race in a competitive bumper at Ffos Las Racecourse to finish 4th on very testing ground. It's always great to watch one that improves each time they race.
Pougie is a lovely 5yo by Dartmouth who stands at Shade Oak Stud. He has an excellent temperament and attitude to life.
Thank you Bryan Carver you gave him a great ride.
