2024 vs 2022 on the formal lily pond, what a difference!!
Removal of fish, added an Screenmatic 140k, Aquamax eco premium 20k, 16k, aquaskim and a lovely Aquarius Eco fountain to complete this pond.
More recently we’ve added 20 plus 10litre lilies, marginal plants and blue dye to reduce blanketweed and give it a more vibrant look. There is far more wildlife now than there’s ever been such as dragonfly’s, water boatman, diving beetles, water scorpions and pond skaters.

Check out this delicate creeping Bog pimpernel 🌸
It’s flowering now till September, loves boggy or very shallow areas to grow and can form a dense carpet of leaves with numerous rosy-pink flowers
A great native plant “Anagallis tenella” here with Equisetum in the boggy barrel.

Look what we found in this small pond 😂
Installed a fountain with filtration for this little pond.
Now cleaned out, free of sludge & sticks that houses a few goldfish. Additional planting of white, yellow Iris, Caltha and Acorus supplied.

Swipe to find the waterfall! A recent tidy on this pond with some marginal planting supplied. The uncovered waterfall had been hidden for years and can now be used again.

What a lot of lily! This pond had a full pond clean and filter set fitted. 25 years of lily removed keeping only the very best lily rhizomes, all repotted in Aquasoil and aquatic baskets. Major removal of iris from around waterfall, reduced encroaching marginals and weeded around margins. Holes in liner fixed caused by years of rocks slipping in and bricks used to weigh down the lily.
An Filtoclear 13,000 to clarify powered by an Aquamax eco premium pump running the waterfall. See in pics a great diving beetle larvae found with a pic of an adult courtesy of .
And as an added bonus the goat and donkeys loved the compost we gave them!

Waterfall refurb for this pond, what a difference it makes to the pond. Swipe to see before➡️
From the preformed cascade on top of an old waterfall to a new fast flowing fall that compliments the size of the pond.
All rock and cobble used from the area after stripping completely, new liner and underlay, powered by an Aquamax classic 8500 and Filtoclear 13,000.

A recent small pond job completed to improve the filtration, maintenance and hide some of the liner. A new Oase Filtoclear 5000 installed for this small goldfish pond, purple slate rock split to gain more coverage and added planting to hide that high back area using yellow flag iris, Acorus Ogon and Phalaris. Outlet diverted to run over slate to aid oxygenation and as an added feature, switch box installed for ease of use and for future garden lighting.
Looking forward to seeing it crystal! ✨

One of the smallest pond cleans! ✨This pond houses two fish,a cute pair of shubunkin goldfish. The client inherited the dirty little pond with the house and was fed up to the point that I was called to look at rehoming them or improving at minimal cost.
The Filtral 1500 with 5Watt UVC and fountain kit was added that will improve the clarity and ease of cleaning for maintenance, the clean to remove the sludge and to improve the planting as the shelves had warped. All plants split / repotted and dressed with pebble, half the cleanest pond water kept and bio booster to aid filtration. I look forward to seeing the happy fishes in the future.

Check out this small pond recently cleaned out, swipe to see before➡️
With 15 years untouched almost all of the bottom was bullrush roots! The client hadn’t seen wildlife for years and wanted the ivy reined back.

Ivy reduced back to where it started and removed weeds.
The pond marginals repotted, lily rescued from the roots and added more low maintenance planting with a frog escape. Despite the black smelly sludge and we did find frogs, newts, toads and some caddisfly larvae.

A needed revamp completed for this aquarium in a doctors surgery in Northampton. An addition of an air pump for better circulation and polycarbon cartridges to the filter should aid to clear and be crystal in no time! Swipe to see how it used to look ➡️➡️
Check out (pic3) the Orandas spawning tubercles on his pectoral fins and gill plate, they are getting frisky!

It was great to visit one of our suppliers today near London. Anglo Aquatic Plant nursery provided an open day and a tour of the site, putting faces to names and seeing the growing and packing process of aquatic plants that we use in our clients ponds and water features.
Looking forward to a great year of fantastic plant stocks again and the best range of aquatic planting at competitive prices.

A recent pond clean completed with a simplified filtration upgrade that makes maintenance easier✨swipe to see➡️

A call out before Christmas for a pump issue led to the client needing it easier and simple to maintain.
Removal of the chamber filtration and installing an Filtoclear 19k set with a secondary pump to run the waterfall, now it can be turned off if required with no effect to the filtration.
All plants heavily reduced, repotted, keeping a lot less yellow flag iris and creating more space for the goldfish and two orfe. The filter area is due to become a flowerbed and the surrounding pond edge is full in summer with lush bamboo and perennial plants.

A flowering Camellia and Jasmine making a great corner for the screenmatic pond filter to be hidden.
6 years ago I upgraded this system from a cloverleaf chamber filter that was sat on top of the camellia! Since then it’s rocketed, this is the 3rd year it’s flowered and gets better every time! The pond is also much better now it’s filtered properly.

So sad to hear the news Craig Baldwin suddenly passed away. An absolute legend as a lecturer, friend and all round outstanding person. Dedicated to the Aquatic industry through education and outstanding knowledge. You tought me so much and you made the world a better place, you will be missed by thousands.

Aquarium swap over for this client 🌟
15 year old bow front to new Roma240 ✨
With 70% of old water kept, fish housed safely whilst getting new tank in place, old filter kept with only fine wool changed. Massive reduction of overgrown Cryptocoryne and Anubias reattached & glued to wood. Great lighting and more space for the angels, It’ll be clearer in no time.

A needed deep clean for this school aquarium recently completed ✨They had unfortunately been let down by a maintenance team apparently looking after it, such a shame as the filter was incorrectly set up and heater melted to the filter trays making it impossible to maintain.
New filter, air pump, 70% water change, algae cleaned all glass and decor. What a difference, such a pleasure to get this looking smart again! Swipe to see ➡️

Monthly maintenance carried out on the aquariums in the club 🪩
Second visit and continuing to look clearer with better water quality now the filters are maintained, gravel cleaned, use of Purigen and new foams. The cichlids were treated to a new FX6 - a massive difference to the old FX4!
All 3 aquariums now running on Fx6 filters, with the use of seachem Prime and Stability to help the breakdown of waste products in the water.

Something a bit different ✨
We went on a foraging course, learning about the basics of foraging mushrooms 🍄
The good, the bad and the deadly! (Within reason) A lot to take in on a half day course but we will be booking ourselves in for more seasonal foraging courses.

Great to see one of my regular clients pond looking stunning today ✨
We recently fitted an Oase 140,000 screenmatic with 120w Eco premium Bitron, pumped by two Aquamax Eco premium pumps with remote strainers and an Aquaskim skimmer.
The Aquarius 9500 fountain and Pondoair pump to aid circulation in this 20 mtr long feature!

This goldfish pond got a brand new Oase filtoclear set installed to banish that green water and provide good water quality and balance for the fish. Last month we repotted the lilies and cut back some untouched marginals now providing more space in the water for the fish.

We upgraded the old box filter for this client✨to an awesome Oase Filtoclear.
Also an installation of a 3 tired water feature which looks pretty cool, I look forward to seeing this pond clear and a lot less green!

Quick and easy future maintenance for this client with a new Oase filtoclear 19k fitted. Lengthened pump cable and fitted taps to control the small waterfall but still run the filter on full flow. It’ll be crystal in no time! ✨

Pond side jobs this morning. Renewed the plank bridge over the stream and fitted new step.

Also added this awesome Star grass to the stream, which will look great once established and it flowers right into October and November too!

What a difference a pond clean can make! This pond hasn’t been emptied for 30 years. All plants split and repotted to aquatic baskets, new waterfall added, new fitoclear 19,000 with integrated 42w UV and Aquamax pump for great filtration. Added new marginal plants and locally made heron bars as heron deterrent. I look forward to seeing it in a few weeks!
