It's very bitter-sweet that I am moving away from Northampton, saying goodbye to close clients and friends I've made along the way! 🏠🩡

Though I will be moving away and my availability will be scattered, I will continue to support my clients via distance training sessions, videos, phone calls and messages. Anything I can do to help my clients through this transition, I will do it! πŸ©΅πŸ•

I have a lot to thank my clients for over the past 5 years; without you wonderful people, my business would have struggled. I wouldn't have confidence or the opportunities that I have today; I am very grateful to you guys!πŸ€—πŸ©΅

With the move, I will have my own home office (finally!πŸ₯³) so I plan to do distance training sessions via video call. This will give me the chance to continue supporting my existing clients and reach out to more dogs in need of support🩡

Thank you all so much for your kindness, patience, slobbery kissesπŸ• and becoming a huge part of my business, my growth and happiness.

It will be sad to say goodbye, once we get a confirmed date; there will be tears on the last day!πŸ˜’πŸ•

Thank you so much for your support and kindness. I have loved working with you and your pooches, seeing you all achieve your goals through fun and positive learning experiencesπŸ©΅πŸ•πŸ₯°

This is Dougie, a very nervous and easily stressed little pooch. 😫😰

I've been working with Dougie since September of last year and I am incredibly proud of his progress so far!πŸ₯³πŸ’™πŸ•

When we started Dougie's training journey, Dougie would march from the moment he left the front door, to the moment he came back through it. Returning home, he would have a big drink and immediately lay flat on the cool floor. He had worked up such a thirst and used all of his mental and physical energy to 'get through' the walk; not to enjoy it. πŸ˜”

Dougie would pull constantly. He wouldn't sniff. He wouldn't stop to take a break. He wanted to get home as fast as possible. 😰

So, through both mine and Dougie owner's efforts, we have helped Dougie not only to relax more on walks (which is still a work in progress, but he'll get there!) but to listen for our cues, follow our guidance, feel comfortable with our supportive praise and activies, as well as to stop and sniff the roses. 🌹πŸͺ»πŸŒ·

Though this has been a long road to recovery for Dougie, this is his journey and we have, and will continue to go, at his pace. Keeping him below threshold, supported and comforted. πŸ₯°πŸ©΅πŸ•

Now, the difference in Dougie is night and day! He still struggles with dogs up close but he can enjoy his quiet walks and his time at the park without stressing! He is able to focus enough (without feeling the need to constantly look over his shoulder) to recall, play games and focus on us! After a calm walk, Dougie comes home with enough physical and mental energy to enjoy the rest of his day. 😁πŸ₯³πŸ•

His progress and his owner's efforts, make me so happy and so proud! We still have small goals to achieve and some fears to face but we are all a lot more confident in Dougie's ability to achieve these goals very soon! 😁πŸ₯°πŸ₯³

Be sure to be on the look out for an update on Dougie's progress!πŸ©΅πŸ•

Anyone who says that your dog should never be above you, as they will 'dominate' you; show them these photosπŸ’™

Luna is not my dog, though I am very much Aunty Abi in her lifeπŸ’™ She has been a regular, 5 days a week, walking client for 4 years now!

As you can see, Luna isn't dominating me. She's enjoying one her favourite spots in the house whilst having cuddles, kisses and fussesπŸ’™ (and of course a tennis ball, she's never too far away from her hoard of tennis balls hidden around the houseπŸ˜‚βšΎ)

There's no tension in her face,
No teeth,
No growls.
No competition.
No 'dominance'.

Yes she's leaning over me, that's because she wants to sniff my breath, sniff my hands for any treats (or her ball!) and simply investigate and bond with me.

And that's simply it.πŸ’™

Simply love. Affection. Understanding and kindnessπŸ’™

Some slobbery smiles to brighten your freezing Friday! πŸ₯ΆπŸ˜

The past few weeks have been quite busy - and muddy - as you can see! With lots of happy doggos, slobbery kisses and muddy paws πŸ₯°πŸ’™

In the photos today we have Dudley and Lionel, Murphy, the famous Luna and Dougie the Dachshund. Dougie has been with me for a few months now, walking twice a week with me to conquer his fear of other dogs. He and his owner are doing brilliantly! 😍😁

Thank you to all my wonderful clients who have been generous enough to gift me a Christmas present or twoπŸ₯° You're very kind and it's very much appreciative! πŸ§‘πŸ»β€πŸŽ„

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas break! Give your pooch a cuddle from me, I'll miss them over the coming week or so! πŸ’™

Treats don't have to be on the ground - they can be ANYWHERE!🀯🩡

Lionel and Dudley LOVES it when their kibble and treats are in high up places. It adds an extra challenge, encourages problem solving behaviour, increases body awareness AND it's not on the boring ground where everything else is!

Dudley really got into the zone today, looking magnificently handsome, propped up on the logs after discovering more kibble.

Stop relying on the boring ground and get creative!

A great way to consider possible kibble spots is to get down to your dogs eye/nose level. Role play your dog for a moment and see what the world looks like from their perspective. Place some kibble or treats in random spots and get your dog's nose working!

Have fun!β˜ΊοΈπŸ©΅πŸ•

Sometimes I wake up with 0 spoons of energy.

I'm slowly learning how many spoons it takes during a typical working day, to function and be productive.

It takes a lot!πŸ₯„πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

However, even with little to no spoons, I know I have wonderful doggos who are home alone, who needs my company, walks and some love.

So I get up and see them, no matter how many extra spoons I need to use up.

Your pooch needs me, and I will never let them down🩡

Though a big plus and a big advantage of dog walking is that I get to meet some absolutely heartwarming doggos like Murphy hereπŸ₯°πŸ©΅

His gorgeous smile, fluffy mane and bags of goofy personality - he definitely recharges a spoon or two!😍☺️🩡

(P.s. A lack of spoons is also why I don't post very oftenπŸ˜… but I'm trying!)

Belly scratch please, mum!πŸ˜πŸ’™πŸ•

Max is continuing to progress every week! I am super proud of Max and his owner. Max's mum is thinking like a dog trainer between sessions; assessing body language, context and experimenting with reward timing!

Loving it!!πŸ˜πŸ’™

I can't wait to show off Max's progress in a montage of videos we've collectedπŸ₯³πŸ’™

β˜€οΈIt's going to be far too hot for our fluffy friends this week!β˜€οΈ

Your pooch is more than happy to skip a walk to keep cool. You do not need to walk your dog in this heat!πŸ₯΅

If your pup is high energy and you think skipping a walk might be frustrating for them, you can replace it with puzzle toys, puzzle feeders, games, training practice (no intense practice!) or simply relax with them and enjoy some belly rubs! πŸ˜πŸ•πŸ’™

Stay safe and keep your pup safe! πŸ₯΅πŸ’™

Dog owner: "Awh look at their happy, waggy tail!"😁
Me: 🫣 "I think we should add more distance, let's try walking over here." πŸ‘‰
Dog owner: "But they're happy! Their tail is wagging!"🀨

Firstly, to be clear, I am not complaining about dog owners with this scenario example. This is simply an example of how wagging tails have become synonymous with happiness in dogs - when they really aren't.

So this post is to highlight the importance of understanding different types of wags, as well as promoting the importance of looking at the WHOLE body.πŸ•

Just like with all other dog body language signals, understanding and respecting those signals can prevent so much stress and avoid over stimulation. Helping to make walks more relaxed and pleasurable for both dog and human!πŸ™β€β™€οΈπŸ•πŸ’™

If you have a wonderfully relaxed pooch (the dream!😍) it's still important to learn body language, so you can help fellow dog walkers!πŸ’™

Sometimes, our dogs can get tunnel visioned and their ears switch off, their handler's calls aren't effective right now. The dog is focused on you and your lovely calm dog. Their tail high and stiff, practically vibrating.πŸ˜¬πŸ•

In this situation, there's two options and mindsets;
"My dog is nice and calm, it will be good to help and approach this dog."
"That dog looks quite tense, hopefully they'll relax more if I add some distance."

What choice would you make in this scenario? Now that you can understand the body language, and the context, a little more.🧐

If you have any feedback, questions or suggestions for future posts, drop a comment below! I'm all ears!πŸ˜ŠπŸ’™

Thank you! Have a lovely day!πŸ’™

😰Foxtails! 😰 Be careful out there everyone, keep a close eye on your pup and make sure these seeds don't get into their skin!πŸ˜πŸ’™πŸ•
