I think it’s safe to say this boy thoroughly enjoyed my second visit today - having the super combination of his hands on massage and the Cyclo-ssage system… 🙌
So lovely to see the licking and chewing, the big deep breaths of releasing and one yawn after another .. leaving this boy super snoozy and chilled 🫶🏻

It was a pleasure to treat this absolutely adorable boy today
He was unfortunately involved in an accident in the Horsebox recently, luckily escaping with minor scuffs 🙏🏻
I don’t think I have ever massaged a more thankful pony in my 11 years of being an ESMT, trying to groom me back and letting me know exactly what felt good… some very tender, tense, tight areas but today was about getting him to release all the tension and giving him a thorough check over.
We are putting a rehab plan together for him so he can return back to work safely and soundly.

A cleansing bath for Miss P today by our lovely ‘ Show Glow Glammer girl’ Karina - she is literally gleaming 🤩
All glammed up but no where to go 💃🪩

Most importantly it’s to keep her skin cleansed, she can struggle this time of year with an itchy mane and tail, so a must to keep her comfortable and prevent her rubbing her mane and tail.
We use an antibacterial shampoo and Biteback Products 👌

❗️Hard Ground - PLEASE READ❗️

Just a little heads up to everyone, I am seeing alot of horses with concussion injuries due to the very hard ground. Please please be aware especially if your horse likes a good stomp around his field that it may be beneficial to bring them in a little earlier than usual or if their living out to let them spend a few hours in on some nice soft surfaces.

At the moment I am seeing a lot of distal limb inflammation and heat, I do not think its a coincidence. Particularly around the fetlock area such as the collateral ligaments and annular ligaments. If you suspect your horse is a little off or a little lame after coming in from the field it could potentially be from the hard ground, so have a feel around that area for any symptoms and of course the hoof for any laminitis. As the horses limb becomes compromised from the concussion
it becomes swollen and sore and it can cause the horse to misplace their feet and result in essence a sprained fetlock.

The hard ground can cause plenty of other issues due to the concussion up the limb. This can include bruised feet, tendon and other soft tissue injuries, splints, tender cannon bones (shin splints) and the obvious laminitis. All of this eventually can lead to tension in the muscles due to compensation.

So please monitor your horse and manage it properly, always check the ground your riding on. If anyone suspects there horse may be struggling then please get in touch 💙
