I’m Dee Dolittle and for the past 15 years I have been a proud Cavmum to my boys; my Black and Tan Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (CKCS) Brody and Raffles. Nothing makes me happier or brings me more joy than caring for animals. Sadly, in August 2019, I lost Brody and in March 2022, the day before my birthday I lost my beloved Raff. My life hasn’t been the same since.
For me, there is nothing like the love, loyalty, companionship and faithfulness of a dog. It is endless, unmatched, holds no boundaries and dogs give you so much without asking for anything. Without my boys I feel lost as a third of my life has been spent looking after and taking care of my furbabies. I feel so very privileged and proud to have had them and called them my boys.
It occurred to me that I could continue to care for dogs and be around them if I started dog sitting and walking. Don’t put your dogs in kennels. Let me stay with your dogs in the comfort of their own home, without the stress of finding a kennel and worrying about your dog while you are away. The added stress to your dog of not only you are going away but also them going somewhere without you, is removed.
Being so passionate about dogs is why I feel dog sitting and walking will not only fill my world once more with furbabies, but also give owners that peace of mind that the care of their dog is my priority at all times. From Cavaliers to Bulldogs to Border Collies and everything in between I have a lot of experience with a variety of breeds. Family and friend dogs include a range of dogs including Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Staffies, Bully breeds, French bulldogs, Chihuahuas, Labradors, Newfiedoodles and Jack Russell’s. I have assisted with the dogs at a dog rescue and have worked with a variety of mixed/hybrid breeds over the years.
Animal behaviour and psychology are areas that I am very interested in. I love learning and understanding the what and the why, when it comes to how a dog will behave in different situations. As humans, we often ruin animals because we lack the knowledge and understanding of what the dog needs, and often put our needs before theirs.
I aim to offer a dog sitting service in your home with your dogs. From one-hour visits and toilet breaks to a few hours while you go shopping or get your hair done, for example. Half day siting to overnight stays, be that a night or two for business or a week or two away for pleasure. While in my care, your furbaby will be a member of my family and treated accordingly.
Since losing both boys, I’ve been left heartbroken and what I can offer is over 15 years of dedicated and passionate dog ownership. No, I didn’t own them. I may not have given birth to them, but they were my boys. They were my life, my loves, my family, my best friends, my world, my all and my everything.
Therefore, if I can have the privilege of caring for your furbabies and eliminating the stress on you both that going to kennels can bring, it would be my pleasure. With Dolittle’s Dog Day-care, I will do my utmost to treat your dog as I would my own. Each day will have a different place for a walk, lots of playing and cuddles. With a photography background, you can expect and look forward to lots and lots of photos of their time with me
Any initial consultations can be in your home or a place where you and your dogs are comfortable, so I can see how they naturally act. We can have a trial session to check all how we all get on, maybe have a walk with you both. Once all parties are happy to proceed, a deposit is taken and agreement made.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you.
