Binky and Bertie are back for pop ins whilst their owners take advantage of their annual leave on sunny holiday this fortnight ☀️ They were very lucky seeking warmth and comfort away from the scattered showers today! How lovely must it be to just look forward to meals and yummy treats everyday 😋

We not only bring the fun to walkies here @petsittingwithtelle but we also encourage and exercise the trust your pets have with us in different challenges faced in their adventures. Honey was very worried about stepping into puddles as a small pup but is slowly building up her confidence in water and year on, leaping around in squelchy mud and stepping further and further into rivers. Feeling the water between her toes and the level of safety through small words of encouragements. Honey is very devoted to her ball on walks so this is often the perfect tool to use, practicing these situations.
It would have been very easy for me to get the ball for Honey as soon as it rolled down the hill but by giving your dog a moment to think for themselves and problem solving before stepping in is a great way to set your dog up for success in different situations, (as long as it is safe to do so). Little scenarios as such, provides your dog with more and more confidence in handling tricky situations on their own, following natural acts/ instincts. Without having to fully rely on their walker.
Trust is a massive tool in this! Your dog needs to trust your initiative and know they are safe in trying new things by following your judgement. Me and Honey both worked as a team in the end to retrieve but I have full confidence that she will be a swimmer this time next year 😆 Go Honey!
