Pet first aid tips – torn claw🏡🐾
This can happen when out on a walk if your pup is running around, or around the house or garden. It is more likely to happen if your dog’s claws are quite long, but can happen to any dog, even with short claws.
✅If there is a lot of blood, cover with a clean dressing and seek veterinary attention immediately. Do not delay and do not leave the bandage on for more than two hours.
✅ If there is no blood but the area is sore, your dog is holding the paw up or licking. Wash with salty water or leucillin spray. Cover with a sock or dog boot. Seek veterinary attention within 24hours.
✅ If there is no blood and your pup is not licking or holding the paw up, just keep clean with salty water or leucillin spray. Contact your vet if further symptoms develop.
There is no need to stop walking , as long as your dog is not showing signs of pain. Clean the area after each walk.
