We're all glad the sun is coming back!🐰🐇😍
Sadly that includes bugs and creepy crawlies.

🚨So be on the alert for Flystrike.🚨

🚨Flies lay their eggs on the sore, dirty skin around the rabbit’s bottoms, the maggots hatch and start eating the rabbit!
🚨This can happen very quickly, within 24hours, so rabbits need to be checked every day.
🚨 If your rabbit has a persistently dirty bottom, ask your vet for help as there is lots that can be done to prevent these kinds of problems, including a preventive treatment to stop the flies from laying eggs.

Rabbits don't like very hot weather. In the wild they would retreat into their burrows. Make sure your rabbit has
✅Plenty of shade
✅Plenty of water

Other pets, particularly elderly dogs and cats that are not able to groom so well, those with some incontinence, open wounds or ulcers are also at risk from flystrike.

Fudge didn't know she was unwell! 🥰🐶Which is just the way we like it.🥰

One of the greatest advantages of home veterinary care is being able to monitor pets in the place where they feel safest.

After being diagnosed with cancer, Fudge was able to receive regular reviews at home, avoiding the stress of frequent clinic visits.

For nearly two years she continued to enjoy life with her family and her little terrier pack. 🐾

Being a mobile vet service means we can offer your pets the best of all worlds.🥰😸

✅Calm and stress free consultations in their own home

✅Visiting specialists in our quiet surgery just south of Norwich, where we only have one or two pets in at a time so that we can ensure they get one on one care. Ideal for pets and their owners who may find a large referral hospital scary and intimidating.

Here is Dr Rosie with specialist vet Dr Ferran Valls, Dip.ECVIM-CA, carrying out endoscopy - where we look at the insides without having to do surgery.

🐾 When routine changes, pets feel it too

From moving house to redecorating a room, new neighbours or a new baby, environmental changes can unsettle pets more than we expect. Some react with withdrawal, others with toilet mishaps or clingy behaviour.

📞 Have you noticed unusual puddles on the floor? Take control of your pet's well-being and prevent potential health issues in the future. Give us a call.

Visiting your pet in their regular surroundings enables us to give you the best advice on how their own environment may be affecting their health and habits.

🐶🐾Worried about what the vet may tell you? ☹️

“Should I get this lump checked?” (or just pretend it´s not there...)🧐

It is one of the most common questions we hear from owners.
The honest answer is yes — even when the lump seems small or harmless.

✅Many lumps are completely benign, but it is often impossible to know without investigating properly.
✅Early information helps owners make calm, informed decisions about treatment and care.
✅If results are good you no longer have to worry.
✅ If results are not so good, it gives you more options, even if your decision is to do nothing and just support your pet with medical and nursing care.

Fudge’s story reminds us how valuable that knowledge can be. Read it on our website here. https://pawsindoors.co.uk/fudges-story-living-tothe-full/

We see a lot of older dogs who are living with arthritis. Owners naturally want to do the best for them.

This post emphasises the importance of feeding for optimum health -
- keep your dog at the correct weight as advised by your vet
- supplements are supplementary and often not sufficient on their own to manage pain
- a multimodal approach will get the best results for your dog
- beware of clever marketing and ‘miracle cures’

When it comes to feeding an arthritic dog, the joint supplement market can feel like a total minefield 🤯

To help you protect both your budget and your dog's joint comfort, we have broken down The Core 4 of Nutrition - the four foundational principles every caregiver needs to know to cut through the noise in less than two minutes:

🍏 1. Whole-body health over quick fixes
There is no single "magic pill" that will fix arthritis. True joint support comes from a long-term focus on overall nutrition, reducing systemic inflammation, and keeping the body in optimal condition rather than relying on a flashy bottle of capsules.

💊 2. Supplements are "add-ons," not the whole plan
Supplements are designed to supplement a robust, multimodal management plan. They can be fantastic secondary tools, but they should never replace targeted, veterinary-prescribed pain relief when a dog is hurting.

💰 3. Manage your care budget wisely
The cost-of-living crisis is real, and caring for a dog with chronic pain can become expensive. Prioritise spending your money on treatments and food with robust, independent scientific evidence rather than blowing your budget on unproven social media trends.

🚩 4. Spot illegal marketing red flags
By law, over-the-counter supplements cannot claim to "cure," "treat," or "relieve pain." If a brand uses these medicinal words on their packaging, it's an immediate red flag that they are circumventing trading regulations - and it's a cue to protect your wallet.

⚖️ The ultimate joint health tool in your cupboard?
If you want to make the single biggest clinical impact on your dog’s mobility today, you don't need a new supplement, you just need a set of weighing scales!

Adipose tissue (fat) actively secretes pro-inflammatory chemicals into the bloodstream, making joint pain worse. Regularly tracking your dog's weight and keeping them at a lean, ideal body condition is the most powerful, evidence-based nutritional intervention available.

Finding a lump on your pet can be frightening.

When Mrs Davies discovered a swelling on her terrier Fudge’s leg, she feared the worst. After investigating further, the lump was diagnosed as cancer.

But this is not simply a sad story. With careful monitoring, gentle treatment and regular home visits, Fudge enjoyed nearly two more happy years chasing balls, barking at visitors and living life completely on her own terms.

Sometimes treatment is not about curing disease. Sometimes it is about protecting quality of life for as long as possible. ❤️
