ADOPTERS NEEDED - We are getting a lot of requests to take in rabbits, 3 rabbits on our list need space urgently as they were been abandoned on a rubbish site. They are currently with their finder but need rescue space asap. If you know anyone who is looking to adopt or are looking to adopt a rabbit (s) yourself please contact us. We can only take in rabbits when some find homes. Our foster spaces (and funds) are not endless.
We try to help as many rabbits/guinea pigs as we can and have already taken in 41 this year which is a significant increase on last year. We can only do this with your continued support.
Thankyou.

Miffy and Mango came to stay yesterday, but we've had a stressful morning - one of my own bunnies was potentially in stasis (but thankfully i caught it early and he is now eating,) but i was also concerned Miffy (black and white bun) wasnt eating.

Is the hot weather anything to do with it as a few of my buns haven't been super interested in their pellets today?!🥵

Anyway, a bit of grass, dandelions and fresh mint later, and Miffy has been eating.
Crisis averted!🙏🏻💜😂🥰🐰

I welcomed Lily and Ben today. 🐰🐰
Lovely pair of husbun and wifebun. I know i said i was winding down boarding, but these guys have been booked in for months, and we could not let them down. 💜

I've pretty much left them alone this evening so as they have time to settle in, but hoping to give them plenty of fuss tomorrow, and hoping Lily gives me an easy time when i give her her Baytril (apparently she can be a little grumpy bum -- oops sorry Lily i meant "bun"😂)🙏🏻😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰

Their lovely momma came very prepared with them both - i have lots of reading to do with their "M.O" (profiles) details on, and boxes full of toys and treats to give them throughout their stay.

They are very spoiled, much loved bunnies, exactly how it should be too!😂🩷👏🏻

And so the curse of the agouti uppy-eared bunny, the ‘nobody wants a rabbit that looks like a rabbit’ curse strikes once again. Every rabbit in our care has had at least one enquiry over the last week, barring Bracken. She’s the most wonderful, agile, fun loving and energetic explorer bun - and she’s stunningly beautiful, yet she will take a long time to rehome - simply because she looks like a rabbit. Please do consider more than their looks when choosing a new addition to your family, as you are missing out on the most incredible animals. If you can offer Bracken a fantastic forever home please drop us a message.

Red flags - if you hear any of these from your vet it’s time to find a new, rabbit-savvy vet!

🚩 “There is no need to neuter your rabbit, if it’s a female then it can live happily with another female. No need to neuter, it’s too high risk.”

🚩 “If your rabbit lives indoors, you don’t need to vaccinate. Only vaccinate if they go outside.”

🚩 “Your rabbit doesn’t need a friend, they can be perfectly happy alone.”

🚩 “Fast your rabbit before surgery.”

🚩 “They don’t need pain relief.”

My resident bunnies were tormenting the boarders yesterday, it certainly got them running up, down and more interested in eating their food😂🐰🙈

Dennis, not a menace, just a shy guy🥰💞🐰

02/05/2023

Fluffle Duffle is staying with his bro, Dennis. 🐰🐰
Both lovely bunnies but they have been a bit off their food since they arrived.
They are now nibbling bits and bobs but have had me anxious all day. I am so used to bunnies who eat like 🐽🐷
I think its just the stress of being in an unfamiliar environment, but anyone who owns bunnies will know how delicate they can be.
Video of Dennis up next because facebook will only allow one video at a time😳

Hi everyone,
Sad to say but please note, that i will not be taking any more bookings for bonding or boarding this year.

My health isn't the best and with bunnies being extremely complex, and stressful, i've decided that i need to spend any spare time/energy i have in looking after my own bunnies or bunnies i foster for Bunny Angels.

Please be assured that any existing bookings will still be honoured 🐰💞

Thankyou x

A Summer Sky

For the longest time he had known only the wire mesh and the wooden walls, and the filthy straw beneath his body. Some days there was food, thrown through a door that barely opened, but mostly there was nothing, not even rotting cabbage. Long ago what little water there was had become undrinkable, having turned the colour of pond algae. In the summer, the ticks and the flies were like thorns piercing his flesh; in the winter - a time of darkness and shivering and damp - the cold drained his body of warmth. Draughts found their way through every hole and gap in the wood, nudging him awake when he wanted to sleep, covering him in a blanket of frost.

For the most part he sat in the same place, still and upright and unmoving, his body hunched. Loneliness, more piercing than the torments of summer, was his only companion. The muscles in his legs had started to calcify, like the bones of an astronaut who has spent too long in space. At night, the only light he saw was that of the Moon; and in the day the only shade was a tarpaulin roof, hotter than the door of an oven. He began to long for release, not the freedom of the open meadow or the garden they never let him enter, but of the long sleep, the one he would never wake from, the darkness into which he would gladly have gone just to be rid of the narrow confines of the world in which he lived.

And then one day…gentle fingers closed around his body and lifted him free of the rotting straw, which still clung to him like the vines of a tropical swamp, as if each strand were reluctant to let him go. He was placed for a while in a much smaller box, a travelling case, onto the floor of which he slumped, certain that this would be his last journey. But not long after the same soft hands retrieved him from the box and stroked his fur, while it was cleaned and freed of the mites that had found a home there. It felt good - almost like a rebirth - to be free of the dirt that had encrusted his body for so long and for his nails, which had grown into wounding scythes, to be cut.

Tentatively, as if he couldn’t quite believe it, he sniffed fresh hay and kale and began to eat. The hutch that became his new home was large and clean and dry, and there were days, many of them, when he hopped free of its walls, grass beneath his feet. He learned to run – there had never been space before – skipping and twisting in the air until he was happy and tired and ready for sleep.

Now when the rabbit sleeps, he dreams not of death but of a bright meadow to play in and clean hay to sleep on. But most of all he dreams of the warm sun and the young doe he lives with, the companion he had longed for and whose life he now shares.

Asleep and at peace, the rabbit dreams beneath a summer sky.

Opal is getting brave and giving in to Meadow's charms.
First time she has gone to lay next to her and snuggle up.
Meadow continues to chase Opal, but i think this will stop, as all Meadow wants is for Opal to love her. 💞

They do things the wrong way around these bunnies🙈😂
Like try not chasing Opal, Meadow, and maybe she will be less afraid of you and want to snuggle up all the time🤦🏻‍♀️🥴

Meet Opal and Meadow.
Two doe/females.💞
Was a sketchy start after an initial fight but things to seem
to have calmed down, albeit Opal (white bun) is petrified of Meadow, but hopefully she is accepting that Meadow is gonna be top bun!

Early days but feeling a little more positive about these two at the moment, it was very different a few hours ago when Opal jumped the bonding pen into the safety of my arms😳🥰 (Not gonna complain as she is super cute!)😍

Meadow has been hu***ng Opal lots, 🙈also grooming/chasing her, but thankfully Opal runs out of the way rather than fight.
Opal is growing in confidence a bit and has started feeling a bit braver - enough to groom herself whilst sitting right next to Meadow.
Thats a good sign🙏🏻
We will see though🤞

Some pics from this week - bonding my own giants bunnies Freddie and Forba.🐰🐰

They bonded straight away, i think mainly due to be able to free roam the house (but kept apart).
They were able to see and smell each other over months!🥰

Today i have scrubbed Forba's old room with white vinegar and water, taken toys out so they just have a basic room with the bedding i used during bonding.
They have just moved in this evening.

Eventually they will be allowed the castle hide, and a new toy a week and i will give them litter trays in a few days.

Lastly, they will be given access to their run via the giant dog flap.😃

Just taking things steady as Forba is a special case - she isn't spayed.
I would *never* attempt or recommend anyone attempt to bond two buns when one isn't de-sexed - however Forba is at least 3.5 years (she is a rescue so we don't have an exact age) and it was too much of a risk for me to spay her, with her being essentially middle aged. Giants are also known to have heart issues.
She is super chilled, which helps massively, and i know her sooooo well! So that helps!💕

🤩FUN FACT FRIDAY!🤩

Shelters take in more bunnies than any other type of animal other than dogs and cats.

When you think of animals in shelters, dogs and cats probably come to mind first. But there are tons of homeless bunnies, and they need love, too. Every Easter, lots of parents give in to the “Easter bunny temptation” and buy a rabbit for their kids. Once the “bunny fever” goes away, though, many people leave their new purchases alone in small outdoor cages called hutches, drop them off at animal shelters, or release them outdoors, where they often starve or are killed by predators. Most bunnies purchased as “pets” end up dead or abandoned by their first birthday.

My own group that i bonded.
It was a group of five but sadly I lost one not too long ago, she choked on one of her pellets. 😞💔🌈🌫

I will be making an awareness post about this soon, as I don't want it to happen to anybun else😥!
