Thinking about sticking my head back out over the social media parapet.

For now I still won't be offering training but can sign post you in the direction of some awesome kind, ethical trainers.

Basically this will just be cute photos/videos of the BB dog and we will see how we go

I'm taking a break from training at the moment due to personal circumstances. There are some fab other local trainers who work with kindness to build a fab relationship with your dog.

Elaine from ELS Dog Training is about to start group classes in beeston and she also does 121 sessions if you would prefer.

Dog & Bean in beeston run a kindness cafe where you can drop in for free dog training advice from qualified, ethical trainers on a Sunday and is owned by Skyhardt Dog Training who are brilliant. There are some great, ethical trainers around Nottingham including Paws & Claws Nottingham, Tip Top Dogs UK, JGBehaviour Separation Anxiety Specialist, R&R Dog Walking and Training and CanineAssist to name a few 💝 Canine Assist also have an awesome YouTube page where you can find loads of free videos to help you with your struggles.

Remember that quick fixes often cause longer term issues so anyone who says they can "fix" your dog in one session is unlikely to be up to date on the most current, research backed developments in canine behaviour. Kindness first. Always 💝

Hey, it's our second edition of wisdom Wednesdays!

I've been thinking about this one a lot recently... Attention seeking behaviours, barking, lunging at other dogs, not coming back when called, so many more behaviours that we find frustrating/embarrassing/exhausting...

This helps me in the moment to remember that the dog is struggling. They don't yet have the skills they need to help them manage their emotions in that situation.

We can support them by recognising they are struggling, helping them build the skills they need outside of the situation and going at their pace 💗

What fun this mornings training session was!

Murphy is a teenage boy who just needs some assistance in remembering that the value is with his owners

We are also working on helping him choose to come away from things that are exciting and distracting like other dogs

He is an absolute diamond, so been to please and so much fun to train with. His guardians also seem to have totally catch the bugs for games based training

It's a common mistake and easily done...

Remember we are aiming for progress not perfection!

That progress should look like better moments and not so good moments - what we are focusing on is the trend 💪

Today's win should not become tomorrow's automatic expectation, play with the dog in front of you right now. Consider their headspace and what they need today, even if that is the easiest lowest pressure thing you can think of

Self care morning

Me and BB are exhausted 😅 I know this because everything hurts, I have a constant headache and catching colds really easily. BB has a funky eye, is itchy and her bucket is SO full. She has also escorted me to bed before 10 pm most nights for the last week 😂

What has this looked like today?

✔️ easy task completed
✔️ a joint nap almost immediately after getting up
✔️ an easy game session so we both get mental stimulation and a dopamine boost
✔️ being kind to myself

They say that you are sent the dog you need. BB isn't always easy but she is always teaching me something 💝

What can I expect?

A 10-15 minute appointment with a qualified Pro Dog Trainer, in which we will listen to any struggles you may be having with your dog, then provide management advice and some initial training tips to help you and your dog. We will also signpost you to further sources of help and advice if required. These might include classes, online courses, and/or 1:1 training and workshops with us and our associated Pro Dog Trainers.

You can be confident that all our trainers are qualified in scientifically-backed training that puts your relationship with the dog at the centre. We are all fully insured, and anyone you choose to work with will provide you with further details and pricing on request. We are working independently on this project, so your relationship will be directly with any trainer you talk to or contact after the session.

What won't you do?

We can't solve every doggy struggle in 10 minutes. But we can give you a better understanding of what's going on, point you in the right direction, and make sure you have tools and knowledge to develop your relationship with your dog, and solve any issues you're having.

Please note, we won't be conducting any actual dog training at the cafe.

Can I bring my dog?

If the environmental conditions are safe for your dog outside, and you know they will be settled and happy in the dog-friendly cafe, you are welcome to bring them. But we don't need to see your dog to believe in your struggles! We're offering human to human advice.

Practical Notes

We will initially work on a first come, first served basis. If we are busy you may need to wait, and your time with us may be limited, but we will always signpost you to further help if needed. Food and drink is available for humans and dogs during your consult, or while you are waiting.
