Welcome to Pups, Paws & More! We are based in Oakworth, West Yorkshire and provide professional dog walking, home boarding and horse care for your 4 legged family members. With over 25 years combined experience and a love and passion for all things canine, you can rest assured that your beloved pooches will be safe with us and come home happy! Our family run business offers a range of dog walking
and pet care services. We pride ourselves on being able to tailor our services to suit you and your pet. We only ever walk in small, controlled groups, to ensure that your pooches have our full attention and get the most out of their walks. We have access to the most amazing walks across the moors and nearby countryside, just 5 minutes from home (see our pictures, you’ll be amazed by the views)! Well it may not be coming home just yet, but we think our boys put up a great fight, it just wasn’t meant to be this time ⚽️
BUT…… the sun is shining and we’re ready and raring to go for another week of fun with your gorgeous pooches. We’re really going to make the most of the next few weeks before we have to say goodbye to them all for a few months 💙 🐶 💙

🌟 🌟 NOTICE FOR REGULAR CLIENTS 🌟 🌟
Just a little reminder that our last “working day” of this year will be Friday 23rd August, before we begin our joint maternity leave (apologies for the typo in our email that stated 26th 🙈)🤰 👶
The lovely Jess, owner of Coco & Barley 🐶 has very kindly agreed to offer a ‘maternity cover’ for our clients (subject to fitting Coco & Barley’s criteria). We know many of you have already made contact with Jess but if you haven’t, and wish to arrange walks for your pooch, it may be worth reaching out to them sooner rather than later to arrange an initial chat/trial, giving yourselves plenty of time to ensure cover is in place.
With this in mind, we are aware that some clients may wish to get started with their new dog walker sooner than our finishing date. If this is the case for you, whilst we completely understand, all we would ask is that you let us know as soon as possible so that we can adjust and plan our work schedules for August accordingly. If we don’t hear from you, then we will assume your dog’s last walks with us will be week commencing 19th August.
At the moment, our plan is to return no earlier than May 2025 but we will keep you all fully informed of any decisions we make going forward, via our social media channels.
We thank you for your understanding and cooperation with this and very much look forward to seeing lots of your lovely doggies having fun on Coco & Barley’s socials! 🐶 🐾 💙

‼️ Update - Please Read! ‼️
The forecast for next week is looking very warm! Lovely for us, but not so lovely for the doggos, especially as the change in temperature is so sudden, our furry friends haven’t had a chance to acclimatise 🥵 🐶
What do we do to ensure doggies stay as cool as possible?
💦 Carry water on our walks and offer it frequently
🌳 Try our best to stick to shaded areas where possible
🚐 Our van has a fan cooling system but we will try and limit travel time as much as possible
What will change next week and always during hotter temperatures?
🕰️ Walks will likely be shorter. Where dogs are struggling with the heat, we will ensure everyone has been to the toilet and had a leg stretch then return them safely home to cool down.
⏰ We will be aiming to bring all walks forward where we can, to try and miss the hottest parts of the day. Unfortunately this isn’t always possible, due to time constraints, if your dog is booked on an afternoon walk, they are likely going to be out at the hottest part of the day.
‼️ If you think that your dog will be better staying at home, or if you’d prefer for us to call and offer them a garden/toilet break then please just let us know as soon as possible. We will not be charging any cancellation fees for next week.

Rain rain go away, come again another day!! ☔️ 🎶 🐾
As we’re sure you’ve noticed, the weather does not seem to be improving and actually, we’d say it’s a little more than April showers!! This is the wettest we’ve seen the land in a very very long time. It doesn’t matter where we walk, everywhere is just saturated, wet, muddy and horrible 😫
The dogs are drenched and caked in mud following their walks, day in day out which makes things extremely hard work, we’re sure you can imagine. We are so looking forward to summer (if it ever comes)!!
At the start of last winter, we invested in a Mud-Daddy which has honestly been a god send. It’s a portable, warm shower which is fantastic for washing muddy paws but it can’t work miracles unfortunately, especially on the longer haired pooches. We are currently going through a full wash load of muddy, hairy towels per day (sometimes 2) and honestly we can’t keep up, it isn’t sustainable for us to carry on like this.
The last thing we want to do is bring your pooch home a dirty mess and as always, we will do our very best to clean the worst of the mud off them. However, if you are not going to be in when be arrive back and you would like your dog cleaning before we leave, please please ensure that you leave a dry towel out for us, in an accessible place. If you are in, you might want to make sure you have a towel to hand before letting them run to the sofa or across the clean carpet!!
Going forward, if a towel is not left, we cannot guarantee that we’ll be able to clean your dog down properly before leaving them.

With the Easter holidays looming, we understand that routines and plans change. We just ask if you could please let us know as soon as possible should you need to amend or cancel your pooch’s walks with us over the next couple of weeks. This allows us to adjust schedules accordingly and allocate any spare places to those who may need them.

As today is International Women’s Day, we reflect on how lucky we are to be surrounded by so many strong, successful ladies who have supported and enabled us to become who we are today.
We are so proud of the little business we’ve built, amongst everything else life throws around and we definitely couldn’t have done that without those lovely ladies in our lives. Let’s start with our amazing mum who is there no matter what (all the doggies love her) and go on to mention our fantastic friends who support us always (even staying in instead of going out so we can sit with the dogs) 😂 😂
We also need to mention our lovely lady clients who are always there with a smile when we collect your doggies - we know how lucky we are to have you lovely lot so thank you 🙏

Let’s talk about last Tuesday when it rained torrentially non stop from the start to the finish of our day! But Bentley cheered everyone up by becoming Ella’s new dance partner and showing us his dance moves! Good boy Bentley 🐶🐾

It’s been a fair old snow day today! 😍 We hope everyone has had some fun in the snow and the sun today, we know how much your dogs love it!
