🌟 🌟 MATERNITY LEAVE UPDATE 🌟🌟

Hello everyone,

We hope you’ve had a lovely Christmas and wish a happy new year to you all!

It’s been a whirlwind of a few months as we’ve both been settling in with the babies, but over the Christmas period we have managed to spend some time discussing, reflecting and making some decisions on the future of our little business and we would like to give you an update on our plans.

First of all we want to say thank you for your patience over the last few months while we have been out of action. We know it was an upheaval having to source new arrangements for your wonderful doggos but it seems that those who have gone to new walkers/boarders are really happy and settled. This has been fantastic to see and hear and makes us so happy 🥰

For several reasons, we have made the decision that we will not be returning to Pups, Paws & More in the next few months. We are not fully closing business, we may well return in the future, but in the meantime we are aware that our clients needed to know we have no planned date of return at the moment, so that you can continue with your new arrangements.
This isn’t a decision we have taken lightly, this truly is our dream job and we’ve missed all of your dogs and the relationships we have made with them over the years.

If anyone is still looking for a dog boarder, in addition to the fabulous Coco & Barley, we can also recommend DeeDee's Dog Boarding & Day Care. DeeDee’s are friends and neighbours of ours, they have recently started up their little business and are doing a fantastic job! If you do contact them, make sure you mention that you are one of our clients and if anyone requires a reference for your dog please do ask us and we’d be more than happy to help.

We really hope you can understand our decision and we would like to once again thank you for all of your support over the years. We really miss all of your doggies (and you!) and hope to see you out and about walking at some point.
If and when we do make the decision to return to Pups, Paws & More in some way in the future, you will be the first to know!

The second bit of baby news you’ve all been waiting for!

On Saturday 23rd November, Annabel Ivy Hardeman made her early entrance into the world 💖 She may have arrived slightly early but she arrived safely and is already full of sass!

Annabel is so loved by us all, even her big cousin Arthur already loves her lots 🥰

Amy, Craig, their beautiful daughter Annabel and doggie Taz are enjoying life as a family of 4 🥰💖🐾

We finally have some baby news to share with you all! 🩵🩵

On Sunday 20th October, Ella and James welcomed the beautiful Arthur Joseph Bailey in to the world! After a little bit of a rough start, they are now home, thriving and enjoying life as a family of 5 ( 👩 👨 👶 🐶 🐶).

We are all totally besotted with him and looking forward to introducing Arthur to his little cousin in a few weeks time 💖 💖 Hopefully she will follow in Arthur’s footsteps and be totally chilled and gorgeous!

We can’t believe how fast the last 7 weeks have gone without walking our wonderful gang of dogs, it’s felt very strange not seeing them all!

Ourselves and Poppy completed the Starlight Hike for Manorlands at the weekend and we saw a few of you there, which was so lovely 🥰

Well that’s a wrap for us whilst we go on our joint maternity leave! 👣 It hasn’t hit us yet that we won’t be seeing our amazing Pups, Paws & More gang every week.

We cannot thank our wonderful clients enough, for all of your custom and support, from the very start and until now.
And thank you to your doggos, who have made us smile, laugh and have honestly kept us sane at times!

Well next week is our last week before we finish for our maternity leave. We can’t quite believe how quickly it has come around 😢 👶

For those of you who we hold a key for, we will be in touch to arrange returning it next week (if we haven’t already).

Our walks next week will be full of extra fun, extra healthy treats and bye bye (for now) cuddles 🐶 🐶

Well it may not be coming home just yet, but we think our boys put up a great fight, it just wasn’t meant to be this time ⚽️

BUT…… the sun is shining and we’re ready and raring to go for another week of fun with your gorgeous pooches. We’re really going to make the most of the next few weeks before we have to say goodbye to them all for a few months 💙 🐶 💙

🌟 🌟 NOTICE FOR REGULAR CLIENTS 🌟 🌟

Just a little reminder that our last “working day” of this year will be Friday 23rd August, before we begin our joint maternity leave (apologies for the typo in our email that stated 26th 🙈)🤰 👶

The lovely Jess, owner of Coco & Barley 🐶 has very kindly agreed to offer a ‘maternity cover’ for our clients (subject to fitting Coco & Barley’s criteria). We know many of you have already made contact with Jess but if you haven’t, and wish to arrange walks for your pooch, it may be worth reaching out to them sooner rather than later to arrange an initial chat/trial, giving yourselves plenty of time to ensure cover is in place.

With this in mind, we are aware that some clients may wish to get started with their new dog walker sooner than our finishing date. If this is the case for you, whilst we completely understand, all we would ask is that you let us know as soon as possible so that we can adjust and plan our work schedules for August accordingly. If we don’t hear from you, then we will assume your dog’s last walks with us will be week commencing 19th August.

At the moment, our plan is to return no earlier than May 2025 but we will keep you all fully informed of any decisions we make going forward, via our social media channels.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation with this and very much look forward to seeing lots of your lovely doggies having fun on Coco & Barley’s socials! 🐶 🐾 💙

‼️ Update - Please Read! ‼️

The forecast for next week is looking very warm! Lovely for us, but not so lovely for the doggos, especially as the change in temperature is so sudden, our furry friends haven’t had a chance to acclimatise 🥵 🐶

What do we do to ensure doggies stay as cool as possible?
💦 Carry water on our walks and offer it frequently
🌳 Try our best to stick to shaded areas where possible
🚐 Our van has a fan cooling system but we will try and limit travel time as much as possible

What will change next week and always during hotter temperatures?
🕰️ Walks will likely be shorter. Where dogs are struggling with the heat, we will ensure everyone has been to the toilet and had a leg stretch then return them safely home to cool down.
⏰ We will be aiming to bring all walks forward where we can, to try and miss the hottest parts of the day. Unfortunately this isn’t always possible, due to time constraints, if your dog is booked on an afternoon walk, they are likely going to be out at the hottest part of the day.

‼️ If you think that your dog will be better staying at home, or if you’d prefer for us to call and offer them a garden/toilet break then please just let us know as soon as possible. We will not be charging any cancellation fees for next week.

Today has been a challenge! Snow, black ice and extremely slippy side roads and footpaths doesn’t make for ideal doggy walking conditions 🙈🙈 But we managed to get around most of our solo walks and visits and thanks to @leesmoorpaws we were able to book a last minute secure field session so that these crazy doggies could have a good run around and we were able to stay on our feet 😂 Thank you so much to our wonderful clients who as always were so understanding. When you’re self employed, having to cancel work or take time off due to circumstances beyond your control is heartbreaking 💔 But sometimes you just have to be sensible and put safety first, both the safety of our doggies and the safety of ourselves. At the end of the day, if we have an accident or become injured, that would be a disaster for our business. There’s only 2 of us and we only have each other (and 1 little van) to rely on!! It is set to be another icy one tonight and in to tomorrow, but hopefully the sunshine today will have thawed some of the ice. That being said, same as today - please be aware that whilst we will do our absolute best to get around everyone as normal, collections tomorrow may be slightly earlier/later than normal. If you think we will have trouble getting to you or if you don’t need us tomorrow, please just let us know 😊 Stay safe (and warm!) Everyone 💙
