Yesterday we went to Townfield Care home in Great Harwood. All of the residents enjoyed meeting our animals and especially liked the pigs 🐽

🦙Alpaca shearing day 🦙
All of our girls had their annual shear this morning. This is vital for them to stay cool in the summer and reduce risk of disease. 5 beautiful alpacas and 5 bags of amazing wool ready to be created into something! 😁
As you can see, Natalie in the 4th picture is very pleased with her new trim ✂️

Last week we visited The Olive School in Blackburn with our sheep and goats.
This contributed really well to the schools workshops relating to their Eid celebrations. The children loved meeting our animals and told us all about how the sheep and goats fit into their learning about Eid. Thank you for having us! 😀

This afternoon we visited Old Gates care home in Blackburn. The residents especially loved meeting our alpacas, they are so well behaved that they are able to visit the less mobile residents in their rooms. Thank you for having us 😁

Sheep shearing 2024 is complete 🐑
All of our sheep have now had their annual haircuts and how beautiful do they look! 😍
It’s not an easy job, we were doing this till 11:30pm last night to make sure the job was done before the rain arrives again 😄

Shearing doesn’t hurt our sheep, it keeps them cool in the summer and prevents a disease called Flystrike.

Another amazing session today with our mobile farm! This time at Castleford HfOP in Clitheroe. All of the residents had a brilliant time and there were lots of happy faces 😊
Look at Susie our lamb in the first photo, she is so relaxed 🐑
Our farm visits are especially helpful for people with dementia, we have had multiple conversations when the residents meet the animals and their memories come flooding back and tell us stories, all just from meeting them. ☺️

Today we visited New Springfield Care Home in Blackburn with our mobile farm. We took our lamb, goats, chickens, rabbits, tortoises, guinea pigs and dwarf hamsters. All of the residents loved our animals and enjoyed meeting them ❤️

Last week we visited Turncroft Nursery School in Darwen with our mobile farm. We spent two days here and the children loved meeting all of our large animals, especially our alpacas and lamb! Thank you for having us 😄

Meet Susie 🐑
Susie is an orphan lamb we have taken in. She is currently 2 weeks old and being bottle fed by us. When she is big enough she will join the rest of the herd and may make an appearance at our mobile farms!

We don’t normally share the downsides to farming with you all, but so many of you will have met our beautiful boy Fenton at our mobile farm visits. Unfortunately he passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning very unexpectedly. We’ve had Fenton since he was hours old and brought him up as an orphan lamb.
Fenton travelled throughout Lancashire and he was well known for how calm and friendly he was. We will miss him so much ❤️

Easter season over and out 🚜
The busiest Easter we’ve ever had here at Emily’s Mini Farm!
The small pet boarding areas have been full with our boarding customers on holiday, the chick & duckling experience has been crazy busy with lots of happy children and adults enjoying our beautiful animals in their own home. Along with travelling around Lancashire with our mobile farm to meet everyone 😄 and not forgetting our sales of fresh eggs and compost!
