Long lines can be great but also pretty dangerous.
We want to protect ourselves, others and our dogs. When handling a long line we should be prepared to be active and be able to move with our dogs.

Some breeds such as sight hounds can pick up speed so fast, there’s a higher potential for injury at both ends. So we need to take both dog and handler capabilities into consideration.
If you don’t have the energy or struggle when it comes to a long line. I suggest avoiding using one, your dog can get just as much on a regular or slightly longer lead.

Good reminder

Being kind to your dog is not being weak or spoiling them.

Being compassionate is not the same as giving in.

Being a safety net doesn't reinforce anxiety or fear.

Allowing choices isn't the same as giving them free reign.

If relationships are built on control, micromanaging, compliance, and insecurity then may they oneday feel the softness of grass!

During the winter months it's a good idea to rinse your dog's paws and legs if you have been walking on pavements that have been salted. Paws may need a little balm and TLC during winter if they are cracked and sore.

Antifreeze is very dangerous to dogs, it can be life threatening. Watch out for spillages around cars or any liquids on the road. Again rinsing you dog's paws after walking near driveways & roads can reduce the risk of your dog licking antifreeze. If you think your dog has come in contact with some, wash it off and call the vet immediately.
