Today was a busy day teaching Hoopers at Enslow Dog Field to lots of Schnauzers and Goldie. Followed by a puppy social, for a dose of cuteness.
Then a 1-2-1 tuition with the lovely Ruth and super Collie, Jack.
It has been fantastic meeting so many lovely people, dogs and getting covered head to toe in mud!

There are times when a dog might deliberately avoid a hoop or barrel. For whatever reason, when learning a new skill, that’s ok and we just continue so the dog has fun. Zella has moments where she just stops dead, refuses to budge or deliberately dodges a piece of equipment. Livestock guardian breeds were not bred for activities like this. They were bred for their intelligence, independent thinking and willingness to protect livestock. We never force her to do something she feels she doesn’t want to do. We carry on and she continues, even picking up speed and racing ahead of me.

We were joined today by Cath and Archie who have never tried Hoopers before. Hoopers is a lot like agility but with subtle differences. Today we taught Archie about barrels. How do you think they did for their first try?

Starting 2025 as we mean to go on, Hoopers training. This morning we spent 2 hours having fun, running (and walking) around the course we set up in the barn in Horton cm Studley. Working on our skills and just enjoying having some free time with our furry friends.

He may be 9 and have wobbling discs in his spine but my superstar, Buz, after a year of retirement (and poles on the floor for safety) still has it when it comes to agility.
2 Clear round rosettes this evening! Thank you Oxford Agility for a cold but lovely evening.
