Let's see if we can help unravel the mystery of how a two-year-old Boerboel South African mastiff dog named Huncho (pictured) came to be found dead in shallow water at Gleniffer Braes Country Park in , Renfrewshire.

The dog's last known owner is believed to be David Moran (pictured) from the Foxbar area of Paisley. Moran acquired Huncho from a young girl named Rachael Louise Bryce, who describes herself as a dog behaviour advisor and trainer.

Rachael claims to have rescued Huncho from a poor welfare situation and was fostering him on a temporary basis. She says that the dog was "putting on weight and learning from me" but at some point she decided the time was right to rehome him. Step forward David Moran, a man with at least two criminal convictions for violence.

Rachael insists she carried out thorough background checks into "great match" Moran before letting him have Huncho. She's somewhat vague about the nature of these checks but they clearly didn't include Google or she'd have found out about his history of violence. See here: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/local-news/yob-who-sparked-terror-paisley-21258211

She said that Moran was initially sending her updates on Huncho but these stopped after a few weeks when she discovered that Moran had sold the dog on "without my permission".

Another woman called Heather takes up the story from here. She wrote that after Moran sold Huncho he was then sold on again to "another guy in Alloa and at the end of January [2023] he got him back ... in 8 short weeks of having him back this has happened to him. [Moran] claims he gave the dog away months ago to someone when he was steaming drunk but he's a liar because I've got proof of him getting the dog at the end of January .. He had another dog as well. I dread to think where that poor one is … probably somewhere up the Braes dead too."

Huncho's body was discovered in the morning of Thursday 6 April in water near Sergeantlaw Road, Paisley PA2 8UY. While the cause of his death has not yet been determined, it's evident from the photographs of his body that he has been subjected to horrific abuse. His ears are missing for a start and, according to Rachael, he may also have been burned.

The person that found Huncho's body has since clarified that his ears haven't been cropped but were partially missing due to decomposition. They said that there is evidence of a head injury and a further injury on the side of his body which appears to have been historic. There were also patches of dried blood.

I like to think that the dogs of rainbow bridge, will be lining up to greet the wonderful Paul O’Grady today. Waiting to welcome a beautiful man who did so much good for their kind. I like to think he will be rolling around with dogs he lost, dogs he saved and dogs who simply heard of his kindness. Covered in fluff, smothered in kisses and loved, loved loved.

Thank you for making us laugh till we cried and for making a true difference this side.
You will be missed, never forgotten and always loved.

Rest in peace wonderful man.

We’re pleased to announce that our Nae Fireworks Night event is returning this year on Saturday 5th of November!
https://www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk/whitelee-events-and-clubs

If you’re looking for somewhere quiet to get away and walk your dog(s), in the company of other like-minded owners, then Whitelee Windfarm is the place for you. The Whitelee Countryside Rangers, Whitelee Visitor Centre and ScottishPower Renewables staff will be on site to run the event and do our very best to maintain a firework-free zone - although please understand this can never be fully guaranteed! We recommend that dogs are kept on leads during the event.

Whitelee Windfarm Visitor Centre will be open to dogs, and owners, for hot drinks and cake from 6-9pm - don't forget to bring your re-usable cup to receive a discount off your hot drink and help us reduce our waste.

As always – spread the word that fireworks are not permitted at Whitelee windfarm. They pose a danger to site infrastructure, can cause peatbog fires, and cause distress to the site's wildlife and livestock, as well as visitors…so please don’t bring them.

Wheres the Collie Lovers at???

7 month old collie pup Sol would like his happy ever after. His lifeline appeal a couple of weeks ago, we had loads but after rehab nobody has stepped up to offer him a family.

Sol is an amazing pup can have calm time hes not a whizzy herder. Hes crate trained, lead trained and car trained. He loves to learn so an Obedience or agility family may suit him too.

He had issues around his food bowl being touched that's been worked on.. He can share toys and water bowls with his foster mates no problem.

Travels well in a car. Walks well on a lead. What else can you want from a rescue baby. Hes Vaccinated and chipped.

If you know anyone who ticks the boxes for Sol tag them in the post. Like or share to make others aware.
