Bertie has been doing well with the other dogs but we aren’t there with the recall just yet so today we popped to the enclosed field.

He had a small reaction to a passing dog but nothing major. Superstar! Cant wait till we’re at the point where there are zero reactions 🙏🏼

Well it was a mixed bag behaviour wise for our Bear today 🤔 We saw lots of other dogs some of which had to pass us quite closely and he was such a good boy & stayed calm.

But…… he was pulling like a freight train 🚂 I’m chalking it up to there being another new friend and her being a girl. He settled a little after the half way point. We will do some more loose lead walking work next week big man! 🐾🐾

Bear met Frankie today, he was a good lad but needs to work on reading other dogs. Frankie was a little shy of Bear being so big. Bear didn’t pick up on this just kept shoving his face in Frankie’s face & (🤦🏽‍♀️ crotch!) 😅

He needs to learn better manners around other dogs so that he can play with them and interact more appropriately ❤️🐾

All in all a good walk with three very good boys 💙

Figured with the lovely weather we have today it would be a great day for training as we’d see lots of dogs but …. Nope 😅😩

We saw two dogs one had a little bark and Teddy ignored him & one was my customers lovely boxer who Ted decided he didn’t want to be pals with. He jumped about a little and had a growl but soon snapped out of it.

He had an off lead play in the garden with Baxter and was relentlessly trying to hump him. Poor Ted is so anxious and we’re going to work on building his confidence every week which will in turn improve his reactiveness 🫶🏼🐾

Bear was a little too excited over seeing Baxter so we did short lead walking until he calmed down. Once he settled he walked lovely. Giving him the odd sniff and the two of them peeing on every single blade of grass 😅

We saw someone with an off lead cocker spaniel who said hello after I explained he’s not aggressive just can be reactive. Bear was very keen and I kept his lead short but was pretty relaxed all in all🙂

I let him have a long lead while Baxter was off so they could play a little, he got a bit too rough so we went back to lead walking. He needs to learn how to play while respecting other dogs boundaries ( it’s not as if he’s only small 😅)

Jake is a lovely friendly boy but he is nervous and can be insecure about other dogs. 9/10 he’s wonderful but every now and then his fear turns into ‘reaction.’

We’re going to work on building up Jake’s confidence by introducing him to members of the rain or shine gang. Show him that dogs aren’t always scary & he can make new pals.

First time meeting Baxter today and he was good as gold. You can see from the picture my dog has got an attitude problem today 😅 I dragged him out for three walks in the rain and wind! 🫣 Jake however couldn’t care less that it was raining, such a happy chap! 🐾

Looking forward to hanging out with Jake more and helping him to make lots of friends ❣️

3yr old rescue pup Teddy is a nervous little soul who reacts to other dogs out of fear. He’s particularly not a fan or large black dogs ….. so who better to have his first walk with then our Cooper 😅🖤 Talk about throwing him in the deep end!

Teddy was very good and they played lovely (pictures to follow!) we’re going to steadily introduce young Ted to more of the pack and hopefully he can get to be a full time Rain or Shine member 🐾🙏🏼

🐻 Meet Bear 🐻

A giant 50kg+ fluff ball 😅 Bear is a big strong lad and can have poor lead manners especially around other dogs. We’re working on nice lead walking and not jumping all over the place when he sees other dogs.

He has a great walk today and he was such a good boy, next week we will have a walk with Baxter see if big lad can contain his excitement 😅🐾🐕

🎉That’s my girl🎉

Bonnie had her first off lead play with the other dogs today.

She’s played with them in the garden and on walks on the longline. Today we went to the enclosed field so she could have full freedom. It’s also the first day she’s met Cooper (black lab cross) she did great. Little bark at him then just accepted him and played with him lovely.

We are all caked in mud but everyone’s happy 😅🐾🐾

So proud of her. When we first met this was what her family dreamed of. Having her play with other dogs & here we are! 🐶

Bertie the teeny tiny rescue Jack Russel terrier. Bertie was rescued a few months ago and is a delightful little chap who’s slightly lacking in social skills.

He met Baxter a couple of weeks ago he was pretty excitable and nipped at his heels a couple of times. But soon calmed down. Today was his first ever group walk, I kept his lead short initially as he was very keen and kept trying to nibble everyone’s back legs. But once he’d settled I allowed him a longer lead and he was brill. Even tried getting into the van once I’d dropped him off to see his pals again.

Next step for Bertie is seeing if he can stay as calm when everyone is off lead. Fingers crossed in a few weeks/months this little dude will be running about making new friends each week. 🙏🏼🐾

Lady came into the rescue I work with over a year ago. She’d clearly not been walked very much and would throw herself about and make a big fuss when she saw other dogs.

I actually fostered her for a while before she found her wonderful forever home (fortunately local to me so I get to see her all the time) ❤️

While she was in foster with me we did lots of walking in different places to get her used to busier situations and having to see other dogs out and about. She even DRAGGED me to the local pub to do some training around a busy environment with other dogs in close quarters.

She’s turned into such an incredible well rounded dog who loves her pals and is now a pleasure to walk when at one point it was something everyone involved with lady’s care would dred.

She’s living life to the fullest 🐾❤️

🐾Bonnie🐾

Bonnie was perhaps my trickiest dog to socialise. Her parents rescued her from a block of flats where she was being used as a puppy making machine. Unfortunately due to her bad start in life and lack of socialisation she was completely out of control when around other dogs.

She is around 40kg and extremely strong. She doesn’t just react to dogs it can also be people and anything and everything that stresses her out. I had to meet her several times before we could even go for a walk.

She has had a handful of dog trainers one of which said she was that bad she’d be fine just in the garden for the rest of her life. Which is shameful.

With Bonnie things had to move very slowly. Little and often with one or two dogs at a time. She’s come on so incredibly and I’m ever so proud of her.

She cannot yet go off lead she is on the longline as her lack of recall coupled with her excitement hanging out with new pals means we aren’t quite there yet. However the next step for our Bon will be having her off lead with her friends 🤎

Linda was adopted by her paw-rents a couple of years ago and she was unfortunately very reactive to other dogs. She’s been to reactive dog classes before coming to me.

She would see another dog and jump around and bark. Purely wanting to play but it doesn’t always come across that way. It often came across as her looking quite aggressive.

She had a few walks with me and Baxter on the longline. We introduced a few gentle dogs who I knew wouldn’t react back if she did start barking and carrying on. Now I can throw her in any group with any of my dogs and she will be good as gold. Wonderful recall and she’s learnt how to play properly. When we walk past another dog now she barely registers that the dog is there. We often stop and chat to people and she will quietly and patiently wait by my side 😇🥰

I have walked ziggy for years and it was always a case of distracting her with a treat and getting her on a very short lead to stop her kicking off.

She will now walk past other dogs calmly, the most she does it strain her neck to get a good look at them 😅

When I started walking Alfie he was like a tiny tornado with teeth! Every single dog we saw he would thrash around on his lead spinning and barking. Total desperation to get to that dog.

We took things steady introducing him to a couple of dogs at a time doing lead walking. We progressed to full group walks on the longline and now he is a total superstar! Off lead and great with any dog I put in front of him. A complete joy to walk so much so last year I took him away to the seaside with Baxter and he had the best time playing off lead on the beach. 🏝️

Endlessly proud of him and will never tire of watching him life his best life with his new friends ❤️

🐾Bear🐾 Getting your dogs to respond to you and focus on the lead is a great step towards realisable recall. We did some loose lead heel. Then I allowed him full length of the lead while regularly making sure he checks in with me for treats and praise 😇
