It's the time of year when helping your hedgehog can boost their chances of surviving the winter.

The Birds' Bistro has a large range of Hedgehog Houses in stock, all at 25% off from 9th October to 5th November

Thursday 21 September - The electricity is going off again 🙄🙄

No power at shop from 9am to 6pm on Thursday 21 September. So here’s a repeat of the info from last time ……..

This means no phone, computer, till, credit card machine etc

We will be open, trying to use a mobile card reader - first time experiment for us - it worked well last time so hopefully will be good again 🤞🤞😊
but if you can pay by cash or even come on a different day - that might be a good idea 👍

We will forward our shop phone directly to voicemail and check it with our mobile phones as often as possible- so please be patient and we’ll contact you as quickly as we can.

We should be able to check our emails, again using our mobile phones.

Hopefully we’ll get through the day with minimal stress for all 🤪

Our biggest problem is no kettle 😱. We’ll be taking hot water in flasks to keep us going with essential tea and coffee 😆

This time it’s a squirrel being impatient at the window - where’s my food - even looks like he’s drumming his fingers on the windowsill😆

Well the good news is the road works are all gone and the road is completely open again 😊

Unfortunately, next Tuesday 25 July, our electricity is scheduled to be turned off all day for tree cutting work in the village. 🙄

Just a heads up for any visitors to the shop.

We are OPEN

There are currently road works on the road right outside the shop carpark, scheduled for a couple of weeks.

There is a road closed sign from the A66 turning (and from the other approaches too)

We are still open and the workmen have assured us that you will still be able to get into our carpark - you may have to move the bollards at some times or ask the workmen to move them.

If there is any challenge getting in, please park up and we will help you carry your goods to your car.

Finally, if you’d prefer not to negotiate the road works at the moment - phone us (017684 83100) and we can deliver to you 😊

We will be closed on Monday 19th September.

To mark the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, we have decided to close the shop on Monday 19th September to pay our respects.

We will be open:
Saturday 17th Sept 10am-4pm
Sunday 18th Sept 12noon-4pm
Closed Monday 19th Sept
Re-opening Tuesday 20th Sept at 10am

Note - our local Cumbria deliveries will be as normal Tuesday to Friday.

If you want to place an order for delivery on Tuesday, please leave a message on the voicemail or email us.

We will check voicemails and the website (from home) later on Monday afternoon to process any orders to be delivered on Tuesday.

All other messages will be picked up and customers contacted on Tuesday morning.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Although Thursday and Friday are bank holidays the shop will be open both days, to ensure you can keep your garden friends happy and fed.

We’ll just be closing a little earlier, at 4pm, on both bank holidays.

Weekend shop openings hours will be as usual. Sat 10-4 and Sun 12-4

Local deliveries will be as normal all week, including Thursday and Friday

We are however suspending National courier deliveries all of this week as there are no courier pick ups Thurs or Friday, which will make Mon-Weds very busy and possibly cause delays in deliveries. We will restart courier deliveries from Monday 7th June.

After nearly 10 years at The Birds’ Bistro, we have decided it’s time for us to look for new challenges.

We are therefore putting the business up for sale. We’ve had a fantastic time working here. We’ve enjoyed helping our lovely customers look after their garden birds and red squirrels, with our great team of staff.

This is only the third time The Birds’ Bistro has been on the market in its 20+ years.

We hope someone out there is looking for a new challenge and fancies taking on this lifestyle business opportunity and it would appeal to fellow wildlife lovers.

To our customers, we’re not going anywhere until we have the right new owners for The Birds’ Bistro and in the meantime it’s business as usual.
