Hi!
I volunteer for Greyhound Rescue Fife and am increasingly worried about a black greyhound called Bob who is getting very distressed in kennels and has been waiting on a home for about 2.5 years. I wonder if it would be possible for you to help spread the word? GRF are continually posting on their page about him but to no avail. He is very frustrated in kennels as he has an active, clever mind. I'm desperately trying to spread the word more widely. The volunteers do their best but, with the number of greyhounds in the Centre, he only gets out of his kennel for a few minutes each day. It's actually now really heart-breaking to see him getting so anxious.
Here is some background information:
BOB is the centre’s longest serving resident at Greyhound Rescue Fife, now based in Kinross, and has been waiting for a home for about 2 ½ YEARS! Bob has recently turned 4 years old and has spent his whole life in a kennel.
Bob has never actually been raced and was a young adolescent when he arrived. He was initially full of joy and hope and would snuggle in for a cuddle and put his paw through the kennel bars to try to lure you back in for more affection.
But, well over 2 years later, Bob is not thriving at the kennels. Far from it. He is now sometimes an anxious boy and does not like to feel crowded. All the different walkers and volunteers has made him stressed and he needs to form a bond with just one or two people in a safe and calm environment.
For these reasons, he would not do well in a home with young children or other small animals (although he does get on well with his fellow hounds). Instead, he needs to realise his potential in a quiet, experienced home where love is always on tap but is not overwhelming for him, particularly in the early settling-in days. Bob is a very clever boy with an active mind. He loves zoomies, treats, toys and affection.
All of the other dogs that came from the same race ground at the same time over 2 years ago have found loving family homes.
Would anyone out there like to meet this deserving boy and give him a chance at happiness? Until then, poor Bob just waits and waits….and becomes more anxious about his situation.
