Hi all!

Calling local tradespeople.

We have a number of things that we need a few pro’s to have a look at for us, if you’re able to quote for the work, please do ping me.

Works Inc;
Boxing in and skirting replacement in three bathrooms
Possible wall damage to be made good
Pipework check
Painting and decoration - bathrooms and various other areas
Carpet strip out and replacement for wooden floor in 2no landings, 2no stair cases, 2no rooms.
Drainage check and advice to back patio door (currently filled with concrete, does not drain, we need a better solution)
Garden waste removal
Replacement FA (currently not working!)
Storage solutions, multiple.

A mini update on the talk with the squirrels (Hampton scouts)… they all made bird feeders after our talk and have been kind enough to send some photos over of the feeders in action 💪🏻

Shout out to local domestic rabbit owners.

If you would be so kind, please can you contact us instead of putting a rabbit out in the wild - no names taken, no judgement - we’ve just seen so many lately that we really need to understand why. Even if we could get some background, this would help massively with rehoming them on your behalf - otherwise they end up with our local vets when someone finds them wandering around - and we don’t know anything about their background/ health issues or anything they may need for permanent care.

It’s no coincidence that so many have been found in a similar area - a similar breed - with similar markings.

Hi guys,

I’m sorry to have posted so much negativity lately. It’s a true reflection of what we do, but with the bad comes the good!

Thank you so much to all of you who have donated to us - sorry I’ve been a right moan bag - I’ll cheer up again soon and remember ‘block’ is always an option 🤣

I saw this earlier - a group of our hand raised babies learning to be ‘big birds’ (avin’ a perch) and it reminded me why I do what I do.

Our poor little monsters have really had to deal with some horrible weather, although covered over, they’ve still managed to get very soggy!

Growing up, perching and not long until a bigger flight aviary and back to the wild…

We’ve got a couple of new conjunctivitis cases in here so we’re treating all babies in this enclosure for the time being.

They are exceptionally sweet, incredibly messy, with wonderful personalities.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, the weather is really playing havoc with our wild birds today.

We’ve had to keep a few enclosures free for emergencies - and we do have one who needs some fairly urgent help.

Would anyone be able to assist in picking up a bird from yaxley? He is uncontained but quite urgently needs some assistance as he is out in the rain. You will need a box or a carrier - and we can move him when he gets here.

I thoroughly enjoyed our ‘guess the wild bird’ talk at Hampton Grove Care Home - Barchester Healthcare today. I hope the residents enjoyed it as much as we did.

My glamorous assistant Dee, came with me to help the residents hear me and see the photos. Dee used to work in care so it was certainly her forte!

Thank you so much to the residents, who at the end of my talk, I told them that they were in fact, ‘Guinea pigs’ for our first ever talk. Please remember to send me your feedback - and I hope you all enjoyed it very much.

Such a wonderful care home with such a wonderful group of residents - perfect for a first talk!

Remember to let me know if you’d like us back in the future when we have more photos and more to say.

Thank you all for having us, it was a pleasure!

Oh - on another note, Dee had feedback (volunteer feedback is always incredible - we have the best group of people!) following the talk and this is a brilliant idea - there were a few residents who were trying to touch or stroke the birds in the photos - so Dee suggested we try to get lifelike soft toys - I think this is such a brilliant idea! Definitely looking into this - but if anyone has any idea where we may be able to get lifelike plush wild birds - please shout. Hampton, what are your thoughts on this?

We didn’t win… but we really did! One of four finalists when you have such wonderful people in your category… that’s a win!

I spent the eve periodically sobbing at all of the wonderful people/ groups and their stories.

The most humbling and absolute restoration in people imaginable!

Congratulations all - and thank you always to our mega volunteers. (Dee, special thanks to you, you’ve had to deal with some nasty things this eve, I am forever grateful).

Emotional eve - and hard work after a weird week of hospital visits on my part!

Absolutely massive thank you to everyone who responded to our post about talks for a local scout troop and a local care home…

One in particular (Kerrie Rzymski 🥰) has dropped these off to me today and I am so pleased - big A4 solid prints for us to use for talks (all I did was email some photos over!). Thank you so so much! These are just what we needed!

Baby pigeon (and dove) spam…
There are always so many… here’s a few…

We’re temporarily closed at the moment - I’m not well (yet another nasty bout of covid!) thankfully volunteers have been on hand to help whilst I’m out of action 😊

We have still managed to take in ten birds over the last 48 hours - seven pigeons, two collared doves and one blackbird.

Truly couldn’t do what we do without the support of YOU and our wonderful volunteers. 🙏

I’m never a fan of these nights.

3.20am I get home after taking a very sick bird to the vets for PTS.

Not only can I not help the bird, but I’m also knackered! Sigh!

Argh! I managed to burn my index finger cooking a paella (clearly over enthusiastic!) and have a lovely blister. Hoping I can stick some goggle eyes and a smile on it and call it a trend… ??

(Well I have to cheer myself up somehow! 🤣)

We have a wonderful volunteer who is able to train and walk doggos. She’s currently thinking about working of her own accord after having worked for a dog walking company who have not agreed with ‘hot walking’ and haven’t supported her.

Is there anyone locally who may need some top notch dog training and walking?

(If it’s too hot - ethical values determine that it must be gardens and shade only!)
