🎓🐾 Puppy University Graduate: Ted the Maltipoo 🐾🎓

Huge congratulations to Ted, who has now completed his Puppy University programme. Over his four sessions he’s grown so much in confidence, taken every new experience gently in his stride and finished his course looking beautifully tidy and relaxed.

Ted has been such a joy throughout, and I’m really looking forward to welcoming him back as he grows. ✨🐶

As today is Remembrance Sunday, we’d like to take a quiet moment to acknowledge not only the soldiers who served, but also the animals who stood alongside them. 🌺

🐾 Welcome Wednesday 🐾
A big warm welcome to some of our lovely new visitors this week!
✨ Effie the Whippet came in for a soothing bath and a teeth-cleaning trial — she was an absolute star and left gleaming from nose to tail.
✨ Ruby the Irish Setter enjoyed a full bath and tidy, showing off that beautiful silky coat in true Setter style.
✨ And sisters Coco & Tilly the Lhasas joined us for their first full grooms — two matching makeovers and twice the cuddles! 💕

🕸️🎃 Frightfully Fabulous Friday! 🎃🕸️

Oscar & Thomas the Border Terriers came in for their Frightfully Fabulous Halloween Spa Package and looked fang-tastic! 👻

These two handsome boys enjoyed the full spooky spa experience — from our ghoulish conditioning shampoo and monster mush facial to the Frankenfluff de-shed mud treatment, finished with a ghostly pawfume spritz and their matching Halloween bandanas. 🧡

They both left looking sleek, shiny and smelling deliciously spooky — ready to take on trick-or-treat season in style! 🦇

🐴 Flo’s Winter Clip 🐴

This weekend was all about getting Flo ready for winter with a full bath and her first clip of the season.

Clipping horses isn’t about vanity — it’s about welfare. As the weather turns colder, their natural coats grow thick and woolly to keep them warm, but for horses still in work or turned out in our very British weather, that coat quickly traps moisture. After exercise, or simply standing out in the rain, they can stay wet for hours, unable to dry properly and risking chills. Once clipped a well-fitted rug then provides warmth and protection without the constant damp.

The same principle often applies to dogs. Every winter I hear, “leave them longer for warmth,” but for most pets, this can do more harm than good. On walks they get wet and muddy; at home, they’re in centrally heated rooms. A heavier coat holds on to dirt and moisture, leaving them uncomfortable and prone to matting.

Regular, sensible grooming through winter keeps their coat clean, manageable and better able to insulate — just as Flo’s tidy clip keeps her healthy and comfortable through the colder months ahead.

Meet Maddie, the beautiful Wire Fox Terrier who’s been on quite the coat journey.

After some hormonal ups and downs and an emergency spay, Maddie’s coat changed significantly — a common side effect of the hormone shift. While her topcoat was still wiry and could technically be stripped, she had completely lost her undercoat, which meant continuing to strip would have left her bare.

After a consultation and careful consideration, we decided a clip whilst still keeping the traditional shape was the kindest and most practical option for her going forward — and I think she looks absolutely fabulous! ✨

Sometimes coat management is about working with the dog’s needs, not against them — and Maddie proves that adaptability can still look beautiful. 🤍
