Journey’s End Feline Sanctuary

Journey’s End Feline Sanctuary A safe haven for the elderly, special needs and palliative care felines

What is Journey's End?...It is a sanctuary for elderly, special needs and palliative care cats, set in a safe, homely environment. Our cat room has a dual purpose and can be used for initial assessment and introduction to resident cats and once assessed any cat 'coming home' to Journeys End is given access to a secure, enclosed garden and is also able to free roam within the residence, where they

quickly become 'one of the family'....Sadly far too many older cats and ones with 'issues' get abandoned and neglected, struggling to survive on the streets, Journey's End is their safe haven, where their needs are catered for, be it visual impairments, obvious disabilities, palliative care or they just need a safe retreat to live their final years, months or weeks being loved and cared for....No cat is ever put to sleep unless their quality of life is diminished or they are obviously physically suffering, EVERY single cat is so very precious, regardless of their condition, age etc and each one deserves the security of a loving home, good food and veterinary care when needed, until such time they must cross the bridge, without pain and with dignity, knowing they are loved and will be mourned...Journey's End endeavours to provide such care until the inevitable 'final journey' across The Rainbow Bridge.

Well what a fabulous day.
Firstly can we express our apologies to those we didn't get a chance to speak to, as it was very busy at times.
A big big thank you to those who came and said hi, played on the tombola and bought items from our sale table.
We also want to show our appreciation for the kind folk who contributed monetarily.
As always, we value the support of everyone, which enables Journey’s End to go from strength to strength and your backing allows us to provide a better life for the needy cats, and for that we are forever grateful.

And drumroll please………,.

When you see a dirty cat.
This is important information to know about why cats look dirty.

Cats can tolerate hunger for up to a week on average, but cannot go no more than 2-3 days without water.

Cats are usually very clean, they groom themselves several times a day. If you see a cat that does not look clean, it is DEHYDRATED and has been so for many days.

Their saliva glands are not functioning properly because they require moisture to groom their fur.

If you see a stray cat that looks dirty, DO NOT turn the other way or see it as disgusting, because it is suffering and probably hasn't had anything to eat or drink in a long time.

Find kindness in your heart to give it food and WATER. The life of a homeless animal is not an easy one. It lives in constant fear of other animals and humans, and it has never known the comfort of a soft bed or a restful night’s sleep.

Helping a less fortunate being is the opportunity for you to become a better person and to make this a better world.

Can you offer this dear gal a home ? X

A special home is needing for this lovely lady who, after months at Woodside, is starting to think she will never find her happy ending.
Ten-year-old Reimi is an independent, feisty girl whose fear of people means she doesn’t like being touched or handled.
She is searching for an experienced owner who, over time, will hopefully start to gain her trust. She would also suit a stable/barn-type home where she has access to an indoor area.
If you think Reimi could be the one for you, visit our website or call 01752 347503.

So on Friday we had a telephone call from a concerned member of the public reference 2 elderly cats after their feeder had gone into hospital and sadly won’t be coming home.
They reached out to a large welfare organisation, but they refused to provide any assistance or support. We were contacted and went out on Saturday to collect as much information as we could, and returned that evening with 2 humane cat traps. As it turned out, the traps didn't have to be used because we were able to pick the cats up and put them in the top loading baskets.
After being de-flead, they were provided with warm and comfortable beds, as well as high-quality food, which included the chicken that is standard at Journey's End. LOL. Today, they went to our vets for health checks and possibly aging. Bonnie appears to be in good health, at roughly 13 years old. However, Clyde, also known as George, requires a dental in the next month or so, which will also involve taking senior bloods. Roughly 15 to 17 years old. We are aging by those other residents in our care from their eyes, teeth and physique.
We were already at our maximum, but we had to help these two old cats off the street .
Photos to follow in the next couple of days xx

That seems to be a problem with the Amazon delivery drivers in the last week. We have had two lots of items not delivered without proof.
If we’ve not thanked you for anything on the page and you’ve sent something, can you please let us know and also contact Amazon as well to say it’s not been delivered?
Xx

A big thankyou to Kate Johns for your very kind donation for Bonnie & Clyde aka George. ###

So Wilson went back to the vets this morning. Duncan was really pleased with his progress and he Didn’t need to keep him in. So it’s now trying to get back to his normal routine and hopefully he will start eating instead having to be syringe fed. And tonight he’s had a little bit of his catfood, which is brilliant. He had a little bit of time in the garden this afternoon.
Little picture of Curly enjoying the sun in the garden and little Hugo asleep with his catnip cushion lol xx
