This is a very good guideline to stick to. On very hot days such as what we are predicted to have tomorrow, walks will be completed as early as possible, sticking to shade and water areas only for a paddle and a play, no long hikes. And if any dogs look like they have had enough, then walks may be shortened for the welfare or the dogs. If on very hot days anyone doesnโt want their dog to go out that day please do let me know ๐พ
๐๐กThis is why we love the woods with a water source, especially on hotter days.๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฆ
The heat doesn't mean stay home๐, but it does mean be careful.
EG: Plenty of water for play and drink๐ฆ, DON'T walk them on hot paths (risk of burned feet), DON'T leave them in the car ๐(even for 5 minutes), DON'T make them run (ball games, out jogging, bike rides etc), give them frozen treats (frozen stuffed toys, broth ice cubes)๐ง, think about were you walk and if travelling somewhere cool isnt an option then get out early ๐ morning or late ๐ evening when the temperature is lower ๐ก(or stay home and do some training or play enrichment games!).
If in doubt put on a couple of warm layers, take off your shoes and socks, run back and forth outside for 30 minutes...that should help you figure out if it's too hot for your dog! ๐ฅต๐ก
