✨ Spotlight Sunday✨

Beetroot.

Beetroot has several benefits for dogs. It has a rich nutritional profile, which includes fibre vitamins, and minerals (iron, potassium, magnesium). These nutrients contribute to various health benefits, including improved digestion, a healthy coat and skin, and potential cardiovascular support.

Beetroot is a good source of both soluble and insoluble fibre, which aids in digestion and promotes healthy bowel movements, especially beneficial for dogs prone to constipation. The fibre can also help regulate the gut flora and support overall gut health.

Healthy Coat and Skin.

Vitamins A and C, along with other nutrients, contribute to a healthy coat and skin, helping to keep fur shiny. Beetroot's antioxidants can help protect cells from damage and may have anti-inflammatory properties, beneficial for skin conditions. Beetroot contains nitrates, which can help improve blood flow, and potassium which helps maintain a healthy blood pressure. Vitamin C and other nutrients in beetroot can support the dog's immune system.
Detoxification:

❌ Important Considerations:

While generally safe, beets should be offered in moderation, as excessive amounts can cause digestive upset or staining of urine. Cooked or steamed beets are generally the safest option for dogs, as they are easier to digest.

Avoid giving your dog pickled or canned beets, as they contain high amounts of sugar and salt. ❌

✨IMPORTANT✨

I have been reviewing my bakery menu, and I have made the decision to remove some items from the current selection. The items I have removed have proven not to be as popular as the ones that remain.

I have also had to review the cost of everything I use to bake for your dogs, so as from Saturday 17th May 2025, I will be increasing my prices. Please find the newly revised menu below.

This is a decision I have not wanted to make, but unfortunately, due the cost of ingredients and utilities, I have had to do so.

Here at Paws 4 Treats, it is so important to keep everything affordable. I have taken the hit with price increases for some time now, but I hope the new prices will not discourage you from purchasing my bakes in the future.

I hope you understand.
Julie.🐾

N.B. Any orders already placed, will be honoured at current rates.

✨ Sunday Spotlight ✨

Courgettes.

Courgettes are considered a healthy and safe treat for dogs due to their low-calorie content, high fibre, and nutritional benefits like vitamins and minerals. They can aid in digestion, help with weight management, and contribute to overall canine health. If your dog eats a courgette flower or the leaves, fear not, all parts of the plant are non-toxic. The flowers of the courgette are actually edible and delicious. You should avoid feeding your dog courgette that has been prepared along with other ingredients. Plain and simple is the way forward!

Here's a more detailed breakdown of why courgettes are good for dogs:

Courgettes are a low-calorie food, making them a good choice for dogs who need to maintain or lose weight. The fibre in courgettes aids digestion, helps regulate bowel movements, and can be beneficial for dogs with gastrointestinal issues.

Courgettes are a good source of vitamins, minerals (potassium, calcium), and antioxidants, which contribute to overall health and immunity. The high water content in courgettes can help keep dogs hydrated, especially during warmer months.

❌ While generally safe, it's always a good idea to introduce new foods gradually and consult with a veterinarian, especially if your dog has any health concerns. ❌

✨ Spotlight Sunday✨

Peas, a tiny green ball. Dogs love balls, right?

Peas are considered a safe and nutritious treat for dogs, offering vitamins, minerals, protein, and fibre, but they should be given in moderation. High in vitamin A, vitamin K, and various B vitamins, peas are also a good source of fibre, iron, zinc, potassium, and magnesium. These vitamins and minerals are good for your dog’s vision, skin, digestion, immune system, nerves, and heart.

Dogs can safely eat green peas, snow peas, sugar snap peas, and garden (English) peas. You can feed your dog fresh, frozen, or thawed peas, but avoid canned peas, which often have added sodium.

❌ While peas are generally safe, they should be given in moderation to prevent digestive upset, such as wind or diarrhoea, especially if a dog is not used to eating them. If your dog hasn't eaten peas before, start with a small amount to see how they react. ❌
