🌧️ They say “when it rains, it pours”… and this December it certainly feels that way. 🌧️

This has been our hardest year yet — financially, physically, and emotionally. December seems determined to throw even more at us. If you’re waiting for a reply, please accept our apologies… we aren’t ignoring anyone. We are quite literally doing everything we can to keep going, with very little time, energy, or sleep.

💙 Becky and the team have spent the last 10 days fighting to keep Sicknote alive at Tin Park, including overnight supervision and round-the-clock care.

💙 Sharon is currently out of action with a knee injury and now strapped into a brace from ankle to thigh.

💙 And to top it all off, Sam’s little 3-year-old has decided she’d like a stay in hospital — because why not add one more thing to the mix.

But even when everything feels overwhelming, something shines through…

✨ Our team.
We want to say the biggest thank you to:

• Annabel – for stepping up and taking over Woodfield
• Dan – for holding everything together at Tamerton
• Gabbie - for trying to keep up with all the messages on our page
• Lucy and the whole Tin Park team – who have barely slept while fighting to keep Sicknote with us
• And everyone else who has quietly stepped in, stepped up, and kept the sanctuary running when the chips are down.

It really does take a team — and we are blessed with the very best.

If anyone would like to help us through this incredibly tough patch, donations of any size make a huge difference and go straight to caring for the horses who need us most.

Orphan Annie met our new girl Millie the other day… and it was adorable. 💛
For the first time, Annie acted like a real baby with another horse, gently leaning in, trusting, and showing that softer side we don’t often get to see.

Annie, was doing the classic baby mouthy thing — that sweet, submissive “I’m no threat, I'm a baby "gesture youngsters do. And Milie responded so kindly to her.

It was such a heart-warming moment between two girls who are quietly figuring each other out with total gentleness.
Sometimes the horses do all the healing themselves. 🐴💕

Movement is so important for a pony’s well-being… even if some of them like to take the “minimal effort” approach! 🤣

Here are Finn, Primrose and Buttercup making their way up the hill to the water.
I won’t pretend there’s a lot of enthusiasm going into it… but hey a step is a step, and movement is movement! 💛🐴

Slow and steady still counts, right? 🌿💧

✨ Flynn ... Seeking a Home That Truly Suits Him ✨
Sadly Flynn is being returned, and we want to be open about the reasons so we can find the right person and setup for this lovely boy.
His current loan home has been incredibly honest with us. They adore him, but have found that Flynn is not suited to a yard with stabling, youngsters or lots of close-contact handling situations. In the stable he can become bolshy, and when he’s unsure or doesn’t want to do something, he can try to walk through you or pull away. He has also been a bit too dominant around their youngster, which has made things difficult for both ponies.
There is no blame here at all – they’ve put in groundwork, natural horsemanship and consistent handling, but he simply isn’t the right match for that environment, and their confidence has understandably been affected. We really appreciate how responsibly and kindly they’ve handled the situation.
💛 So what does Flynn need?
• A true herd environment with horses who will calmly remind him of his manners
• Minimal or no stabling – he’s a very different boy when living out
• A confident, experienced handler who won’t be fazed by a clever horse testing boundaries
• Someone who wants a happy hacker, not a schooling horse – arena work just isn’t his thing
• A calm, adult herd rather than youngsters he may try to push around
When Flynn’s living setup meets his needs and he’s with confident people, he is genuinely a lovely boy who enjoys hacking, human company, and routine. He just needs a home that gives him the freedom, structure and herd support he relies on.
If you think you might be the right match for Flynn, please get in touch 💛

🌿 ORPHAN ANNIE’S STORY 🌿
From heartbreak… to hope… to becoming Woodfield’s cheeky little favourite 💚
Late last winter, a tiny foal appeared at our gate, painfully young, incredibly weak, and clearly all alone. We monitored her for three days, feeding her little and often, waiting for her mum or herd to collect her… but no one came.
A quick call to the farmer confirmed we could take her in. So we opened the gate, and Annie quietly walked in as if she already knew she had found safety.
Months later, what we believe was her mother was sadly found deceased in a nearby bog. Our best guess is that brave little Annie came looking for help when she realised her mum wasn’t coming back. And somehow… she chose us. 💔➡️💚
Those first months were all about survival. No pressure. No expectations. Just food, warmth, space, and kindness. It’s taken Annie all this time to learn to eat from a bucket, trust a human hand, and find her place in the world again.
This week, we decided she was finally strong enough, in body and in mind , to start gentle handling with positive reinforcement. And what a little superstar she’s been! ⭐
Today she came to call,
✨ Walked into her stable
✨ Let us catch her
✨ Led out calmly
✨ And stood to be groomed all the way to her rump on both sides
From a feral orphan foal to a pony trying her absolute best.
Now, Annie… how do we say this kindly… she is probably the most unusually put-together pony we have ever met 🤭 Her conformation is wonderfully wonky, and she is almost certainly never going to be ridden.
So maybe she’ll never have that “forever human” of her own,
but she does have us.
Forever.
No matter what ❤️
🐴 Next Step for Annie:
Her next big challenge will be learning to wear a rug , just something to help keep her warm and dry while she continues building up her own reserves. She’s strong enough now, so we’ll be introducing it slowly and kindly, in her own time.

If anyone would like to help buy Annie her rug, or support her and the other ponies in our care, our bank details are:

Every little helps us keep ponies like Annie safe, warm, and loved. 💚

Here’s to Annie , the brave, the quirky, the scruffy, the survivor. We’re so proud of you, little one. 🐴✨

🌧 It’s definitely a learning curve up at Woodfield…
The rain just doesn’t stop, and we’re all feeling it now — humans and ponies included! The feeding stations are struggling, the mud is winning, and our herd urgently needs grass mats to give them a safe, dry place to stand and eat.

We’ve only been here a short time, so we’re still learning how the land copes… and wow, this weather has certainly shown us what we’re up against!

If anyone is able to support our fundraising for grass mats, and the extra winter expenses....even the smallest donation helps more than you know. 💛

🌧️ Meet Millie & Sylvie Our Newest Muddy Arrivals! 🐴💚

Please give a warm welcome to Millie and tiny Shetland Sylvie, two of our newest ponies to come into the sanctuary. They might be a little soggy and very muddy today, but they’ve already settled in beautifully and are enjoying their new home.

Millie is the calm, gentle soul in her early 20s, and little Sylvie is fast approaching 30 well, she’s smaller and older but definitely full of character already! galloping around the woods with her tail up, like a 2 year old.... Watching them explore, relax, is exactly why we do what we do. 💞

But with winter hitting hard already, and this rain adding to our growing costs.
Hay, feed, worming, farrier, vet care, and mud-management are all daily challenges for a small sanctuary like ours.

If you’d like to help us give Millie, Sylvie and all our rescues the care they deserve, we would be so grateful. Every single pound truly helps. 🙏💚

🌺 Remembrance Day 2025 🌺

Today, we stop to remember and give heartfelt thanks to all who have served men, women, and the countless animals who stood alongside them in times of war and conflict. 🕊️

Horses, ponies, donkeys, dogs, pigeons, and so many others gave their strength, loyalty, and often their lives, asking nothing in return. Their courage and companionship will never be forgotten. ❤️

At 11am, we’ll join the nation in a moment of silence to remember them all.

Lest we forget. 🌹

REHOMED.

Hello everypony, it’s me — Star 🌟

I’ve been living at Hoofbeats for a while now. I’m a gentle soul with a cheeky twinkle — I love adventures, gentle rides, and lots of love from my people.

But lately, I’ve been dreaming of something special… my very own person 💛
I’d love a confident young rider who wants a best friend to have fun with, maybe do a bit of hacking, some gymkhanas, or just spend sunny days together. I promise to try my best and make you smile every day!

I’m good as gold on the lead rein, and I can also be a fun second pony for a little jockey who’s ready to do a bit more. I’m not a fan of being overfed (a girl has to watch her figure 😉), and hills are my best friends — they help keep my legs strong and happy!

My loan fee is £500 , If you think we could be the perfect match, please tell the lovely humans at Hoofbeats all about you. Maybe my next adventure could be with you 🌸

Love,
Star the Pony 🐴💫

🌟 STAR 🌟
Looking for her Forever Home

Born: 2014 • Approx. 12hh • Loan Fee: £500

Meet Star — a beautiful, kind-natured little mare who adores attention and pamper days! She’s never bitten or kicked, and loves nothing more than being fussed over and included as part of the family 💛

Under our wing she has proven to be: An excellent, patient lead rein pony for little riders.
A fun, sometimes cheeky second pony for a confident child who enjoys a bit of character!

Star does have an occasional locking stifle, which is easily managed with: Regular walks on varied terrain (she thrives on hills!)
Avoiding overfeeding
Gentle massage / physio
Carrot stretches to keep her loose and supple

We’d love to find Star a special home where she can: Be a cherished companion to another horse/pony, or Enjoy life as a lead rein pony or have fun with a confident rider light, plenty of love, grooming and pamper time the main essential .

She’s a really sweet soul who deserves the very best.

If you feel you could offer Star the loving home she deserves, please send us a message with a little bit about yourself, your set-up, and what you’re looking for. We’d love to see if you’d be the perfect match 💛

Although it was a very busy weekend meeting some lovely people, I had such a lovely Sunday at Woodfield just spending quiet time with the horses. Becky kindly covered the other yards, which meant I could actually sit down in the autumn sunshine with a cup of tea and simply watch the ponies be ponies — playing, mooching, grooming each other and just enjoying life. Moments like that are good for the soul. 🍂☕🧡
