I can't be more proud of you Betsy beagle. We have both worked very hard over the last six months plus to become a Certified Practioner Team with Paws Therapy and Assitance Dog Training.
For those who may not know, Animal Assisted Interventions is a therapeutic approach that involves animals to enhance the physical, emotional, and social well-being of people. It is a goal based process that can help children and adults in differing environments from schools, residential homes, prisons, drug and alcohol rehabilitation and so much more.
It is a rigorous training process for both Betsy and I in regards to the theory involved and the practical training and testing involved. It has been a steep learning curve for us both.
Betsy has been an incredible addition to our family and I see the support she gives my own family, especially for Harry who has recently been diagnosed with ADHD and is under assessment for autism. Harry struggles with many things that others take for granted on a daily basis and Betsy has helped him daily to process these difficulties. It is this that made me realise we could help many more children and adults and this is where I would like to move forward in my working life.
I have also completed a level 4 Specialist course with the Dog Training Course on Children and Dogs. This specialises in helping families with children and dogs.
Part of both the Paws Certification programme and the DTC specialist course trains in Cynophobia, the fear of dogs, and how to help people with this clinical fear. This is another area where Betsy and I are going to specialise.
Thank you beagle chops for your love, compassion and dedication to be the best practitioner team we can be.
If anyone would like more information then please do not hesitate to contact me.
PS - I am still involved with the dogs!!
