Dog Sickness 🦠 🤒
Throughout my career I’ve had this question asked of me and I’m sure I’m not alone in this..dog walkers across the country probably hear this question all the time
‘Has my dog eaten something they shouldn’t have today?'
My answer is always the same
we only feed them what they’ve been eating since day one, unless their owner provides specific food…
The real culprit behind your dogs sickness is often their nose! 👃
We need to remember that dogs are, well, dogs. They sniff and then have to taste things, like licking urine, tasting other dogs sh*te 💩 dig into and eat mud, chew sticks, and even share saliva with other dogs 💦
Their mouths are working overtime when they’re out and about, picking up all sorts of nasties. Many of these things like E. coli, Salmonella, and Campylobacter are bacteria that can be harmful and can be found in all of the above. Your dog is literally ingesting millions of bacteria in one day!
It’s why dog bites almost always require antibiotics due to the bacteria in their mouths. While some of these bugs are harmless, others can cause sickness or diarrhoea. We do our best to discourage the above behaviours, but at the end of the day, dogs will be dogs.. and that freshly laid dog turd is just too irresistible not to taste🤢🤮🤮
Even if the likely cause is from the above, please always let us know if your dog has become unwell after a walk! 💚
