Unless you are a very experienced dog handler here is one clear reason you do not bring a cane corso into your home , the bite force is real !!!!

Working with dogs requires a level of fitness to be able to keep up, here iam at Bayside gym keeping that fitness level in check !

My membership is provided by The stronghold , the military veterans hub to help me maintain my mental health , important for myself and for working with canines.

This all links in with Rob’s filling station and RbprojectQ .

Here is why you will never get an argument from me about rescuing a dog, all I will say is know what you are getting into and stick to it ! This is the Legend himself Diesel, he was so poorly treated in his first six months of life he subsequently cost over £5000 in operations after the insurance ran out! , he was so grateful he was the most bomb proof dog you would ever meet , had a passion for life and running ,even though he was as blind as a bat 🤣 . the extent of the abuse became apparent when he lived to an eye watering heart breaking 18 months old. Be prepared to have a piece of your heart taken 🐾🐾🐾

Edit: I love all the dogs I work with, meet and even the ones I will never meet but adding a little context which in hindsight would make this more relevant: my first dog I personally owned was a patterdale terrier called Arnie ( because he had mahoosive feet for his size ) and little Ness reminded me so much of him ❤️❤️❤️

Keep seeing posts recommending owners to walk their dogs on the beach as it is much cooler . Heat transfer of sand is more than 5 hours !!! This is also a common cause of thermal burns to dogs pads !!! Be vigilant out there 🐾

I was reluctant to post the following information but having seen other posts verging towards scaremongering felt the need to.
So we are talking about Cutaneous and renal glomerular vasculopathy also referred to as Alabama rot. Alabama rot is classified as a thrombotic microangiopathy- a disease that causes blood clots to form in small blood vessels this gives clinical signs of skin lesions and kidney injury.
Dogs usually present with non-traumatic skin ulcers on digits, pads , paws or feet however some may show ulcers on the head, tongue , flank or belly. IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER most skin ulcers are not caused by CRGV.
Some dogs will recover without developing kidney problems. CRGV cause is unknown to date and currently there IS NO EVIDENCE to prove any specific advice on prevention.
THE IMPORTANT BIT FOR YOU ALL…. It is extremely rare with most cases reported between Nov-May, from Nov 2012-Feb 2024 there have been 318 confirmed cases. You have more chance of winning the lottery ( figure of speech but you get the point ).
Basically continue as normal, be vigilant and use your Vet when you notice anything.

As a firm believer of cynopraxic training it still amazes me the amount of people in Dorset using slip leads, choke collars, e-collars , halti & gentle leaders, the use of leash pops and force makes me cringe . Let’s be clear there is absolutely nothing gentle about any of these devices or methods,they are abusive and have no place in dog training! I do not judge people using these devices,through experience many are unaware of what they are and more to the point how they work ,PAIN & FEAR !!!
