What a successful day!!
🐾 Hugo was absolutely brilliant today. Not only did we see lots of people and 2 dogs that he didn’t react to at all, HE GOT IN THE CAR!! I hadn’t even got the treat out yet to coax him up and he jumped right in beside me. We spent a little time having treats and strokes then he spent a little time jumping in and out and then we went on our merry way. Great Job Hugo 🐾
🐾 Then we had the Terriffic Ted! Ted was a little off sorts today and had extra energy. Not sure if he was upset with me that he was on a solo walk today instead of walking with his pals 😂 we had a lovely walk across all terrains and we saw 1 dog which Ted had a little play with. We also spent a little time in working on the loose lead walking 🐾
🐾 We finished the day with Bodhi. Bodhi is an absolute delight. He is a typical Lab, he loves the water and finds it wherever we go. Today he found some really stinky water that didn’t even splash when he jumped in. It glooped 😂. Quick stop at the lake (once he’d finished his happy dance) to wash off on the way home and we were right as rain. Made it home just as the icy rain started 🐾
Thank you boys for a perfect day.

We ended the day with Princess Lily. Lily goes though life like a wrecking ball, so today was all about slowing down and loose lead walking. We took nearly 20 minutes to get out the front door, as every time I went to open it Lily would rush the door. She worked so hard to hold that impulse back and we made it out side where she soon got the hang of the nice loose lead walking. It will take time and repetition to get where we want to be, but if I can be consistent the time required will lesson each session. Great work Princess Lily

Today we met up with the Delightful Davis’s Pawsome Pups (Hybrea Davis). We got there a little early so we could spend a little time exploring the bushes, using their noses and ensuring they were all calm and regulated before introducing. Ted particularly benefits from being given the opportunity and encouragement to slow down as he is always going at a million miles an hour. Making sure they were all calm maximises the chances of all the dogs getting on. And it worked a treat. All 5 dogs enjoyed chasing, playing and exploring the environment. I Love my job so much!

Baxter’s first walk with Husher’s Hounds. And what a lovely walk it was. This little chap is an absolute babe. His owners have done such a fab job and they should be very proud of themselves. He is off the lead with his owners but as it was my first walk with him I kept him on the long line to start with. Unfortunately my long line is a little heavy for Baxter once it got wet so once I knew his recall was good with me I let him off. We practiced recall all through the walk, we even saw 5 dogs and Baxter kept his attention on me, we did meet one of the dogs and Baxter had a really positive interaction, a little play and then we moved on. It is imperative to ensure that most of the dog interactions are positive ones at this stage, to ensure your young pup grows to be a happy and well rounded dog. That isn’t to say your new pup has to meet every dog they see. It’s much better to avoid interactions at this stage unless you know for sure it will be positive and friendly. Teaching your young dog from this age that they don’t run off to every dog they see is a major stepping stone in keeping your dog safe and unafraid. I look forward to watching Baxter grow and helping him become the best doggo he can be 🐾

Welcome to the club Baxter. Our newest member. He is an absolute dream. Only 4 months old and his attitude and recall is amazing. His owners are doing a brilliant job so far in raising a well balanced healthy doggo. Keep up the good work guys. Well done. And well done Baxter on your first walk with Husher’s Hounds. Really looking forward to seeing you grow 🐾

2 lovely walks today. First of all with the lovely Hugo. I’m sure his owners have been working hard with him as he was a dream today. We saw 3 different dogs, and Hugo only reacted by pulling towards one of them, there was no barking or lunging. What made this especially good is one of the dogs we saw was also reactive and lunged and barked at Hugo from across the road. Hugo managed to turn his attention back to me and we carried on happily. Then was the awesome Ted. He’d had a haircut which always makes me feel bad as I love the muddy walks 😂😂 but he stayed mostly clean today. Ted is working really hard on walking nicely on the lead, he’s so excitable he forgets sometimes but he is definitely improving. Good job boys. 🐾

The perfect windy walk at French’s Farm. We saw a few dogs today, most we avoided as they were on leads but they did play with a few of the off lead doggos. Such good boys 🐾

A very cold but stunning walk with these 3. It did rain, and the rain was icy cold but we had a blast. Until I realised I’d dropped Ted’s lead so we had to backtrack, but the boys didn’t mind, and there was great jubilation when we found the lead. Albus is an absolute darling, Draco likes to explore the bushes Albus waits for him on the pathway. He can always tell when Draco has gone a bit far as he gets a bit antsy, a quick yell from me and Draco pops out the bushes and then Albus walks on happily. Lovely to see ❤️

A very windy but extremely beautiful walk with Bodhi. He was brilliantly behaved as usual. We saw and played with a few dogs today, only one was rude, so we avoided him. Luckily it’s really open and easy to see and we spotted him being a bit pushy and dominating with another dog so we turned tail and went the other way. Bodhi enjoyed following the trails and he avoided the puddles today. Until the end of our walk when he went in every single muddy puddle he could find. Thank goodness for the stack of towels I keep in the car 😂😂

Upton Country Park with the 3 Amigos. The park was absolutely heaving with dogs, again we kept every interaction short and sweet to ensure maximum success. All 3 dogs enjoyed their walk. And it was an absolute pleasure for me to also have my adult daughter join me for the walk. Thanks boys. Keep up the good work 🐾 ** I don’t video most dog interactions as my full attention is required to be able to notice any signs of anxiety or behaviour that may indicate unhappiness. It’s very important to be able to call the dogs away before anything breaks out. Lots of people say dog fights have come from no where but very rarely are there no signs, they’re just very subtle, like stiff body posture, staring, ignoring a dogs requests to be left alone etc. I keep an eye out for these and more tiny signs and if I notice even one sign (from the dogs I walk or the dogs we meet) I call the dogs away and we go on our merry way. 🐾 **

Back to Delph Woods with Bodhi. Delph woods appears to be a Mecca for dog walkers because we saw lots. We met and played with quite a few dogs. Bodhi can sometimes struggle with unknown dogs, especially entire males, so we keep Bodhi close by when we spot another dog, and when we know it’s safe to interact we keep every interaction short and sweet. Bodhi is an absolute superstar and he listens so well. He loves the water and he loves nothing more than dragging a massive stick around. Good work Bodhi 🐾

A really tough training walk for Hugo today. He’s not keen on the wind, and it didn’t help that the local dog who he reacts severely to walked past just as Hugo came outside. Today felt like day 1 of walking Hugo as he was reactive to every single thing we saw. We stayed calm and concentrated on the training. We spent a little time with the car, but not too long as Hugo was on high alert and very anxious. We made sure to stop and sniff (sniffing helps de-stress) and we didn’t ask too much of Hugo today to ensure that he was successful and had a positive walk. We aren’t down about today being a struggle, as it’s normal to take some steps back before bounding forward again. And the fact that we still had lots of loose lead walking despite being so aroused is a massive positive. Well done Hugo. Keep up the good work 🐾

An evening walk at Upton Country Park with these 3. It got dark pretty quick. We saw a few dogs and all 3 behaved impeccably ❤️
