Just before we all get carried away with the New Year Eve festivities..

I wanted to take a little time to reflect on the last year...
We have had some difficult times, but also some great ones...

We've bid farewell and safe travels over the rainbow bridge to those who have gained their wings... we have mourned them... but also remembered how much joy they have brought us... and how thankful we are to have been part of their life .

We have also welcomed some new members to the Pixie's family... and have had some great puppy cuddles and play times, and look forward to being part of their onward experiences...

We are always here and happy to help if ypu need us... looking forward to seeing old friends and new friends in 2025...

Hi all,

Another announcement today... I'm on a roll!!!

I wanted to let you all know that from January 2025 we will be changing our opening hours ever so slightly and my (Charlotte) working hours are also changing.

From 1st Jan 2025 our core open hours will be 8am - 4pm, Monday to Friday. And 8am - 2pm every other Saturday (subject to demand)

We will continue to have 1 late night opening a week on a Thursday where I will be working until 8pm, and also we will still be able to provide 1to1 quiet appointments subject to my (Charlotte) working hours.

Charlotte, that's me encase you haven't realised! 😂 will no longer be working Mondays and also every other Tuesday, this is due to the demanding nature of this job and the physical impact that it is having, this time is to ensure that I can take a bit more care of myself so that I can continue to do the job I adore...

So, if you would like an appointment with me, then just let us know when you book so we can make sure that's scheduled correctly for you.

‼️Important Notice‼️

Hi everyone!

To follow up on my previous post advising of a price increase in 2025.

I have now done a full review and evaluation of our costs over the last 12/14 months and on average our costs for shampoo's, maintenance, training, equipment, utilities, plus VAT etc have increased by just over 20%, however our prices have not increased over this time inline with this and we can no longer afford to continue to absorb these increases.

Therefore, from 1st January 2025, I have taken the decision on a price increase of around 10 - 15%, whilst this may seem a steep increase, it is necessary to ensure that we can continue to provide the best we can for you and your dogs.
If you would like us to confirm what your new price will be in £, then please do get in touch.

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to pop a note out, as we have and are continuing to see some adverse weather bringing heavy rain and high gusting winds.

Whilst we remain open, we do absolutely appreciate that travelling in these conditons can be very unpleasant, if you would rather not travel in high winds or heavy driving rain, then I understand ... therefore if you'd prefer to reschedule for when the weather is a little calmer then that is not a problem.

On this Rememberance Day, we take a few moments to think of all the men, women and animals who fought on the front lines, and contributed their time and resources to this time of great unrest and war.

We think of the Poppy as a symbol of remembrance as it was one of the few plants that grew on the torn up war ground.
And this was encouraged by the peom written by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, 'In Flanders Fields'.

We will remember them all, always.

Hey Everyone...

It's time to talk about everyone's least favourite friend... the Flea!

The Flea is a small brown insect that can jump about 12inches, it lives in our homes in carpets, furniture and in cracks between floors, as well as on our pets. They can also live outside in warm humid conditons in grass and bushes, and with the temperature getting over all warmer fleas are becoming a year round issue.

Also... an adult Flea can produce up to 50 eggs PER DAY!

Here at Pixie's we have seen an increase in dogs coming in with fleas, but also an increase in repeat cases... fleas aren't just an inconvenience they can cause lots of heath issues... over scratching can aggregate already sensitive skin, and make allergies worse, but they can also transmit other diseases like cat scratch disease and can pass on Tapeworm eggs.

Getting rid of fleas can take time, we have to make sure that not just our pets are treated but our homes as well, and the best way to keep on top of it, is to repeat the treatment regularly...
Fleas are becoming more and more resilient to off the shelf treatments and so a chat with your vet is a good idea, but also... we can help with advice and also with a regular Flea bath if you need it!

We at Pixies do understand that sometimes fleas happen, and it's OK... just let us know before your appointment if you suspect fleas or have seen fleas on your pet, so that we can then make sure we can accommodate your pet at a suitable time when the risk of passing them on is low, and we can then sanitise the salon and our equipment, unknown cases of fleas do cause a big disruption as it normally means we have to cancel appointments and close... and that is not ideal... and may result in additional charges on top of your groom price to cover the cost of the specialist shampoo we use and the room sprays and treatments we use to fumigate the salon.

So, if you see a Flea... let us know!

Hey Everyone... It's important announcement time!!

We pride ourselves in providing the best services we can, and it has come to that time for a price review and increase...

Following the recent Budget and the significant changes announced along with the need to register for VAT in the last year, alomgside the continued increase in costs for electricity, water, maintenance for our equipment, as well as the products we use, and ensuring we stay up to date with our industry and our skills, we will be undertaking a full review of our costs and therefore our prices as well.

Once we have undertaken this review, we will confirm the new pricing structure, please be assured we will always try and keep our costs as reasonable and as competitive as possible.

The new pricing will be published soon and will be effective from January 2025.

So, on Sunday we all headed off for a refresh certification on our Dog First Aid skills.

Whilst we hope we never have to use this knowledge, we also understand that accidents and things can happen, and therefore it's incredibly important we know how to manage them when they do....

Crufts Day 2... Continued... ... an amazing show by the westmidlands policedog section!

Meet Bilbo... he did amazingly for his first visit for a chat and a puppy pamper with us... He was telling us all about what he's going to be when he grows up... he's going to be a Hearing dog! Helping people who are deaf or with impaired hearing live a full life... When I was growing up I actually wanted to be a nurse... what did you want to be when you were growing up? See you on the sofa!

Who, What and Why?

Hi there, my name is Charlotte, I love all animals, but I am particularly passionate about dogs. I have 2 myself, and therefore as an owner understand there can be challenges and that sometimes in can be hard to find the time to groom the dog, and that is why I created Pixie’s Parlour.

Pixie’s Parlour, is a service providing solutions that meet yours and you dogs individual grooming requirements, I am fully qualified to Level3 in professional dog grooming, insured, pet first aid qualified and DBS Checked.

Our grooming services are completely flexible and can be tailored to fit in around your schedule, where I can come to you and groom your dog from the comfort or familiar surroundings, great for nervous, young, or elderly dogs that may not enjoy the busy environment of a grooming salon, also great for nervous owners, who may not like the idea of leaving their dog in that situation, you can then see me at work and feel rest assured your dog is in safe, calm and kind hands. Or I have a home based salon where I offer a 1 to 1 groom with your dog, where you can leave your dog with me, or you are also welcome to stay and have a tea / coffee and see me at work (we have biscuits!).

In addition to grooming services, I can also offer that little bit of extra help you may need for those situations when time is short, from taking your dog for a walkies, to popping in and checking them when you may need to leave them during the day.
