What is Salt therapy? It is a natural treatment, that helps with breathing and skin conditions. Salt therapy is non invasive and drug free therapy and it is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antihistamine.
Who does Salt therapy help? Salt therapy helps horses, ponies, donkeys, alpacas, dogs, cats, farm animals and people.
What does it help? As most animals (and people) are often exposed to airborne pollutants, such as dust, mould, pollen etc. Salt therapy will help breathing and skin problems such as Coughing, congestion, kennel cough, asthma, head shaking, sweet-itch, non sweat-itch scratching, rain scold, ring worm, mud fever, cuts and skin sores. It improves lung function, increases oxygen carring capacity and clearer airways which in turn will help horses (animals) work easier and recover quicker. It can also help replenish lost Salt through the skin after hard work and sweating.
What happens in a treatment? The horse, pony, dog etc are loaded in to the Animal Salt Cave, once settled and happy the halogenerator will be turned on and Salt treatment will begin. Treatment is 20-40mins long depending on the animal. If treating a breathing problem it can help if the animal has had some exercise before treatment to open the lungs up. The treatments are carried out on 3 consecutive days 24 hours apart (5 days if needed, this would be decided before the start of treatment). If for skin then it is suggested that they aren't brushed after treatment to allow the skin to absorb the salt. The trailer will be heated when needed so as the animal is not stood cold while having a treatment. (I can also treat where there is no electric as am equipped with a generator).
