🍫🐾 Happy Chocolate Day! While we humans love indulging in sweet treats (dark, milk, or white!), it's a day to remind pet owners about the hidden dangers chocolate poses to our pets.

Chocolate contains theobromine,which is highly toxic to cats and dogs. The darker the chocolate, the more dangerous it is!

Signs of chocolate poisoning include:
🚨 Vomiting or diarrhoea
🚨 Muscle tremors
🚨 Seizures
🚨 Irregular heartbeat

If your pet gets curious and sneaks a bite, don't wait - call your local vet straight away. Let's keep today sweet and safe for everyone. 💕🐶🐱

Unfortunately we have had a RTA cat brought into us dead on arrival. Tabby female with no microchip. Found on Washington road in Maldon. Please contact us if you need any further information.

DO YOU HAVE A MEDICAL PET SHIRT AT HOME THAT SOMEONE ELSE CAN USE?
If you have a Medical pet shirt at home that you no longer use then we will now take these back as long as they are in good condition.
These will be properly cleaned and then we can use them on patients in the wards and send some to help charities in the local area.

DO YOU NEED TO ORDER YOUR PETS MEDICATION????
Please be aware that the way we order is now slightly different. We will now need at least 72 hours notice for all repeat prescriptions to include any repeat food orders.
If you are unable to give us 72 hours notice we may not be able to complete your pets medication order.

ALTHORNE SURGERY

Good morning.

Please be aware the road (bends) between Burnham and our Althorne branch is currently closed so if you are visiting us from Burnham way you will need to go via Tinkers Hole.

We also have no internet or phones so please call Purleigh if you have an emergency or have an urgent enquiry. 01621 828381.

We have had a male entire black and white cat bought into our Purleigh surgery. He was found on Chelmsford Road Purleigh after a suspected car accident. We are treating him for his injuries but need to contact owners and unfortunately he doesn't have a microchip. Please call 01621 828381

A Domestic Long haired cat was found just down the road from our practice in Purleigh yesterday. Unfortunately he was dead on arrival with no microchip. Please could you contact us if you have any information as we would like to contact his owners.

🐾HELP ME FIND A NEW HOME 🐾 We are looking for a home for this lovely boy. Sadly his owner died and his now looking for a forever retirement home, his approximately 13yrs old, castrated and microchipped although his new owner will need to update these details. He would prefer a home on his own without any other animals and LOVES a cuddle. If you can offer him a home please call our Purleigh surgery and we can arrange a visit.
