I think I like this little life 🤍🦄
Hoof trim and massage in the sun for Bella aka Small, helping her release the tension in her hamstrings and gluteal muscles today. I think she likes this little life too! 🫶🏻

Post hoof trim releases for the gorgeous Sir Lancelot ✨🦄🤍
Moomin and I are wishing you all a very Happy Easter! 🐣🐇🌸
Hope you’re all having a wonderful bank holiday weekend whatever you are up to.
Maybe take a leaf out of Moomins book over this long weekend and factor in some rest and relaxation for yourself too 🫶🏻🤍🦄 🌊😌

First visit to the gorgeous Tommy today, he is a 3 yr old Welsh cob.
I was contacted by his owner to try and help with Tommy’s anxiousness and worry when it comes to his hoof care as he’s had a bad experience previously with farriers where force has been used to just “get the job done”, which has led to him being skeptical of having his feet handled…and rightly so!!
When I arrived he was anxious and he immediately went into a defensive posture with his head high in the air, eyes wide with worry, snorting, he wanted to leave.
I could see he was holding a lot of tension in his body but particularly at the base of his neck/shoulder junction which will not help when picking up the front feet, so instead of going straight in to his feet I wanted to work on gaining his trust by trying to help regulate his nervous system a little to help him breathe deeper and bring him down from flight mode by doing some gentle massage around his neck and shoulders letting go of the tension he was holding.
I also found an area of tension around his latissimus dorsi which is a muscle of the horses back that attaches to the humerus in the front limbs which aids in front leg movement as it flexes the shoulder and retracts the limb.
You can see some nice releases of this muscle in the video here, lots of yawning, licking and chewing and head lowering. I also don’t mind that he moves about. It’s all part of the process.
Just by having a massage at the start of his hoof trim, and gaining his trust it made a massive difference to the end result, I made a decision with his owner to only trim his front feet today and picked out his hinds with minimal stress, which will hopefully set us up for success next time.

✨When you choose to soften into something it relaxes, tension releases and stuck energy flows.✨ 🌊
This is little Tink, and this is her second treatment with me, this video is worlds apart from the first time I treated her. So proud of her letting go like this. Big changes! 🤍✨🦄 🥹
(Take note of how her whole expression and posture changes and softens from the beginning of the video to the end).
The first time I treated her back in the summer her guard was up, she didn’t want to be touched, she had so much tension in her physical body and in her mind that she resisted letting me in, she really struggled to soften and to let go physically and even mentally, and being anywhere around her head was basically a no go!
And her muscles were hyper sensitive to the touch.
She was also super reactive to sudden movements constantly living in her sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight).
This is something I can relate to too. When I started having bodywork myself I had years of built up physical, mental and emotional tension that I was too in survival mode, quite guarded, and I also didn’t really want to be touched. I therefore resisted softening into it and really struggled to let go of the built up tension and stagnant energy which was showing up as pain in my body from years of stored stresses and unresolved traumas.
But as more layers got peeled back each time, and the more trust I had, in myself, my body and the amazing therapists that have had treated me, it became easier to soften, be vulnerable and let the tension go, and I think that’s how the horses feel too.
I usually find after the first treatment (particularly sensitive souls like Tink) when they realise the process, and how it makes them feel, they too learn to trust and let me in deeper the next time. 🫶🏻 ✨ 🦄
