Yesterday we introduced two new teams to the exciting world of scent detection. Even though it was hot yesterday and we were indoors training, we made sure that we had plenty of breaks and lots of fresh water for the dogs available.

Caroline had attended our taster session a few months ago and was due to attend our last workshop when she had to withdraw her little boy Clarence due to a sore wrist. Little did she knew that it was a lot worse than she first thought and in the end she had to say good bye to him far too soon. This time around she brought her other dog Shakira along. Shakira was great and she soon got the idea of the game was all about. Well done Shakira you did you mum proud.

Then we had little Menios who is a rescued street dog from Cyprus and he is eight years old so his mum thinks. He has lived with his mum for four years. He was more interested in what his mum had in her hand as he knew that she had some tasty treats in them and was more interested in the treats than search for bits of Kong. That being said we did have some moments where he seemed to be getting the idea that he had to work for the treat rather than just being given them. Well done Menios.

Well another great Mantrailing session with Douglas Daniel from Doggie Explorers thank you for a great evening session. Coco was usual self full on trying to do everything at 100 miles an hour. She may only be a 1/4 of the size of Max but she pulls just as strong as he did.. she did great well done Coco..

Well what can I say but yet another great training session with Doug and Tash from Doggie Explorers.

So proud of our little girl not only did she complete her first trail with super confidence but also she completed a 470 metre trail the longest one I think she has done so far. If that was not enough it’s been decided that she can now start on a scent article instead of a delayed start. There was lots of distraction at this location which she had to work through as well. Well done Coco. 😃😃😃

I have have got two venues that I can use one at Cliff and the other at Lower Halstow. That way hopefully people don't have to travel to far.

On the 19th November we ran our fourth Bronze level workshop.
(Sorry for the late posting of this it's been a busy week)

We had Dave and Rumble a delightful Cocker Spaniel who came in bouncing off of the walls and by the end of the session was ready for his bed. Apologies to Rumbles Dad for chopping the top of his head off in the photo.

Next, we had Jane and Bree a quiet and anxious little girl who was so focused that when one of the other dogs barked, she completely ignored it. Well done, Bree!

Then there was Mack who was at disadvantage (or so we thought) because his Mum had only bought the Kong a day before, but he showed himself to be a True Star by displaying a real talent for the tasks.

Not to be outdone, next there was Holly and Stuart. Holly a beautiful black Labrador, showed her dad how easy the game was, and that she’d do anything for a treat.

Last but not least there was Glinda and Kylo, who made his presence known, by being the nosey one! There’s always one! … but he was a pleasure to work with.

Today we ran our first Scent detection taster session. Three new dogs and their handlers came along to find out what scent detection was all about. Vicky and her Romanian rescue street dog was more concerned about the surroundings than what the other two dogs were doing. But that didn’t stop him from having a few sneaky treats from the instructor whilst the other two were not looking.

The other two took to it like a duck to water. It didn’t take them long to get to know the game and to stick their nose where they should in order to get a tasty treat.

We hope you all enjoyed yourselves. And we look forward to seeing you again soon.

I am considering running some taster session in scent detection and was wondering if anyone would be interested. It's an ideal way of finding out more about this ever increasing popular world of scent work.
The session would last no longer that an hour and a quarter. The spaces are limited to only three dogs per session and the venue and date is TBA. The cost would £25 per dog and if you booked on taster session and then wanted to progress to do the full course then you would receive a 10% off the main course.

These two never cease to amaze me. After our little walk this evening I decided to do a little Mantrailing with Coco this evening after our walk, just a short-delayed start trail well she hadn’t she took off like a bull in a China shop, gave me a nice clear negative indication at a junction then turned around and shot off and found Dawn standing there. Coco hasn’t done this exercise must be getting on for at least nine months if not longer.

Then when we got back to the car, I decided to scent work with Max. Before the walk I hide a tin and a small vial on the car. Well, it took him no time what so ever to find both items. The vial took a bit longer as it was a bit small than the tin but he found them. He has done a vehicle search since we did our course which was almost a year ago.

Now I have two very tied little dogs as you can see.

A bit of a late post but here goes. Had a lovely walk down by the river the other day. Max didn’t come out with use today as he had been out Mantrailing earlier in the day, so decided to give him a well earned rest.
