Had to put fencing on hold and go and help OJM Farm Contractors out today, roping in another local contractor for extra muscle down in , .

One stuck Massey Ferguson with tanker and one stuck Fendt with hedge trimmer were then unstuck fairly quickly and suffering no damage with the hydraulic winch and went on to work again.

For the past week or so, we have been at Cloud Stables in carrying out a monumental amount of work which is still ongoing.

We have carried out an awful lot of ground clearance since we started, regaining grazing land lost to bramble and scrub, clearing waste, clearing ditch lines and massively adjusting land levels to create more grazing areas, as well as a new site for all weather turn out areas to be installed for liveries.

There are currently livery vacancies so to take advantage of the livery spaces and benefit from the improvements being made, please contact Lucy on 07738304248.

Many thanks to Red-Lands Plant Hire for the excavator hire.

Morning all,

Apologies for the lack of updates the last few weeks. We've been undertaking a project we can't publish details of.

This week however, we start another exciting project for the new owners of Cloud Stables at with a lot to be done in the next two weeks and will be showing the improvements being made to create sites for all-weather turn out areas, maximise available grazing and create a better livery yard.

Another wildflower meadow under construction before the rain stopped play!

Five hectares of old pasture flailed down and sprayed off by us a couple of weeks ago.

Many thanks to Buckland Farming & Contracting for their ploughing and power harrowing yesterday while we were finishing off another wildflower meadow.

Back on site today to Cambridge roll it, drill it with a blend of wildflower meadow seeds and then re-roll it to firm the seed in before the heavens opened.

Some more autumn herbicide applications this week for various clients including the rugby pitches at Abbey RFC - Reading Abbey Rugby Club to keep the weeds at bay going into the winter.

With its low weight, wide tyres and low ground pressure, our Kubota never makes a mark on the ground.

A busy week on wildflower meadows again last week, with the remainder being cut and collected and some new ones created.

This 4 acre site was part of an old industrial yard that had been developed in the last couple of years and the area of wildflower meadow had been left in a terrible state by the previous contractor with large amounts of rubble, scaffolding tube, angle iron and other debris stuck out of the uneven ground.

We sprayed off the entire site, (delicately) flail mowed and collected all the vegetation before beginning destoning works with the alpine tractor, powered box rake and our excavator and tractor and dump trailer. Circa 120 tons of rubble, stone, debris and metalwork was removed, leaving a relatively debris free, level surface for seed drilling and future cut and collect mowing.

This week we will be drilling a wildflower seed mix formulated for heavy clay soils.

Many thanks to Jim at Countryside Restoration for the work with his alpine tractor and box rake.

About ACC Contracting

ACC Contracting was founded by myself in 2016 with an ambition to provide bespoke and tailored conservation, rural, land and equine contracting across the south east. This came off the back of ‘ad hoc’ work I have been asked to undertake by other equine premises and landowners over the last ten years, from owning my own small country estate and private stables in Berkshire. Understandably, I’m proud of mine and my company’s ability to effectively deliver large or small projects and work within budget and timescales with a personal touch I enjoy providing as a small business. I take great pride in putting my customers first, and as a small, local business, I offer extremely competitive prices and do all I can to look after and show my appreciation to my loyal customers. ACC Contracting is fully insured for public liability, third party liability and employers liability for any and all aspects of work undertaken and copies of insurance are available on request or available to download from the link below. ACC Contracting staff are fully trained, qualified and certified to NVQ, LANTRA, NPTC, City & Guilds and Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) industry standard and certificates and qualifications are available on request.

I have a B.Sc (Honours Degree), am a member of professional institutes, and previously worked for a large government agency, where my role was to improve the environment through large and small scale practical work before I took the decision to leave the public sector and start ACC Contracting.

Most of the work we carry out for customers is also work I undertake on my own land, on my own buildings, for my own horses and for my own family, so I know what works and what doesn't, and the best times to undertake certain aspects of work. ACC Contracting will undertake any work from small scale hedge and grass cutting by hand to large scale ground clearance and land based or conservation projects. It really is the case that no job is too big or small and I am always interested in a challenging job! I am also happy to provide an equine and environmental consultancy and advisory service and offer work placements to encourage children and students to contemplate a career in the countryside or get involved in conservation and enhancing the natural environment or improving their skillset. I own a fleet of modern agricultural and construction equipment, and can offer competitive hire prices if hire equipment is required.

On the rare occasions I am not working, I can be found on horseback, out shooting with Henry the gundog, with a fishing rod in hand on the river bank, or enjoying a glass of fine red wine (although generally not all at the same time). Henry is our unofficial company mascot and can often be seen loafing around fields while I am working. He is friendly so please say hello!
