Pencarn professional dog grooming is located in the village of Carnkie, near Redruth, owned and run by Gemma Taylor. Gemma has been grooming for 25 years and has a wealth of experience in breed standard grooms but also practical pet trims to suit your pets lifestyle and needs. After establishing and running a successful busy salon for many years, the time had come to take a more laid back approach
to life and spend more time with my children and my animals, also to enjoy the countryside more. Gemma moved to Carnkie but was missing her life of dog grooming. After much thought and planning, Pencarn Professional Dog Grooming was created and at the forethought was a calmer, one on one approach. With this in mind a custom, purpose built, in home salon is currently being created for a home away from home environment. I only use Natural Shampoos and products as I believe they are the best for optimal health of your dog and also for the environment. I can provide Introductory puppy grooms to allow your dog to become used to being groomed, the salon and myself, before their first adult groom. I groom small and medium size breeds. When Clients first contact Pencarn, they will be asked to make a provisional grooming appointment and come for a 'meet and greet', before the grooming appointment can be confirmed. This is to ensure that the dog feels happy on their first groom with me. I'm sorry I don't groom any dogs that are aggressive. Gemma attended Duchy College after school, where she gained distinctions in BTEC First Diploma in Animal Care and NVQ Level one. Then gained a Distinction in National Certificate in Animal Care and NVQ Level 2. Then started a Saturday job at a Vets in Redruth which went on to be a full time job and offered a trainee groomers position. Gemma started her grooming career by completing two years of an apprenticeship in a busy grooming salon. She then went on to run the grooming salon which she did for 13 years before leaving to have her first baby. Gemma then worked and helped set up a grooming salon for a Kennels. After a couple of years leaving to have her second baby. Gemma then set up a Salon of her own which she built and grew, which included a raw feeding and health shop for dogs. Finally selling the salon after 8 years to concentrate on home educating her two children.
