I have an exciting announcement to make.🌀

If anyone remembers when I first started breeding in 2017 I had a Opal doe named Ellie.
Ellie was absolutely beautiful and got me to where i am today, she produced the most amazing babies, Teddy and Nella to name a few keepers and others which some of you still have today. Unfortunately Ellie passed away in 2021, my stud was never quite the same without her.

I'm so grateful to be welcoming this girl "Etta" into my stud from (unfortunately i cant tag her page) Etta has been bred to an amazing standard and I can't wait to see what she brings to my stud.

This one's for you El, Opals are making a come back.
2023, watch out ❀️

A question I get asked alot is, should rabbits be kept in pairs? "The vet told me its best to have a pair", or if i have a pair what age should i get them neutered?
I hope this answers the question(s).

Should rabbits be kept in pairs?
Bunnies do like to have a companion and live in big groups in the wild, but domesticated bunnies with plenty of love and attention means there is no reason why a single rabbit can’t be perfectly content.
If you do intend to keep several rabbits together, it’s very important that you consider they will need to be separated from as young kits regardless of their genders. Their hormones can kick in as early as 12 weeks old, causing territorial fighting which can be fatal! You therefore need to have adequate space to allow for housing each rabbit entirely apart from the other. Rabbits can still fight and mate through the bars of an enclosure.
In order to house them together, each bunny must then be spayed/neutered from around 4-6 months of age which should drastically reduce aggressive and hormone-induced behaviours, improve litter tray habits and make them easier to handle and greatly reduce the risk of cancers in does.
Only 8 weeks post-procedure should the rabbits then be gradually reintroduced to be housed together permanently. Please remember that β€˜baby bonds’ are not genuine bonds and are highly unlikely to last once hormones kick in. Bonding is something which requires huge amounts of research and commitment and should not be taken lightly.

PLEASE DON'T DO THIS ⚠️

Please don't bring your outdoor rabbit(s) indoor for playtime etc whilst we are in cold temperatures.

Naturally you feel this is something you should do because it's cold but unless your rabbit(s) can now remain living indoor until low temps/ frost are over, your actually doing them more harm than good!

Keep them clean & dry with lots of straw, you could even add/fill a cardboard box or pet carrier.
Their are snuggle safe heat pads available (a microwavable hot water bottle) & place hutches in sheds, garages if possible.
You can insulate your hutch/shed too.

Fluctuation in temperature is damaging to your rabbit.
It will cause them to moult, could cause respiratory issues & it also takes them so much longer to acclimatise back to the colder conditions once they go back outside.
