Sorry guys another quick update!

After spending the entire night with no sleep and researching we’ve found the vaccine!

All remaining rabbits are being vaccinated tomorrow!!!

I’ve had to buy the whole bottle which is 40 vaccines- I will only need 19 of these as it stands. I’m hoping the vets will be able to issue out the other ones to other rabbits.

I AM DOING EVERYTHING I CAN. I’ve been up for 28 hours without sleep - I’ve not eaten. My whole world along with my children is this farm - and I will fight for it and my animals no matter what even if it breaks me.

I’m keeping everything crossed that we’ve managed to save the remaining rabbits but we still won’t know for the next 6 days as to whether they will have the virus or not. However we are now 46 hours after our last death and with every hour that passes we are one step closer….

Please if you can spare any pennies I’ve popped the bank details on the other post regarding this current situation- I can’t keep them fed without your help especially with having to isolate the farm at this current time

Love to you all ❤️

I’ve had a few messages guys - please note we’ve not closed our doors permanently!! I like to be as open as possible with you all but I was too heartbroken to post straight away … I’ve not eaten for 2 days or slept or been able to process much.

We are just closed temporarily due to something out of my control.
Unfortunately a new strain of a deadly disease for rabbits called RVHD (this has been around for years and all my rabbits are vaccinated for x2 variants and mixi ) however a mutated version has emerged- first case was noted in January this year! Because of this they have had to create a new vaccine which isn’t yet available to the vets in our area! THIS IS ONLY LOCATED TO RABBITS - can’t be passed to other animals or people however can be spread by both.

We’ve gone into lockdown to assure we do everything we can to protect the rabbits!!
So far we’ve tragically lost 5 of our beautiful family 😫 💔

What is killing me is I’ve done everything correctly - every single rabbit is vaccinated with cards to keep on track - the pens are cleaned every single day - a few months ago I did my 6 monthly worming - this has to be done for 21 days daily and at the same time each day.

I work so hard and long hours to assure the best care for these animals - and then something like this has happened - something I was told I was protected from.

I’m angry with the vets - these aren’t just animals to me they are family!
They missed this disease in the first postmortem- 24 hours later it was picked up! That means 24 hours of the disease potentially being spread to the others because I was told NO LEAH ITS NOT ANYTHING THAT WILL PASS ON.
I should have trusted my gut and gone into lockdown then but when you’re being told it’s nothing to worry about and no infection or virus was picked up by professionals you tend to follow.

So this is why we have closed for the moment - we have gone into complete lockdown. Only 1 person sorting the rabbits left from the large group. And 1 person sorting the rabbits from other sheds. No one is allowed in the outdoor pens until we can source this NEW vaccine (absolutely no idea the cost behind this yet or when we can get it)
We have full overalls that are being sprayed and washed after each rabbit - we have disposable gloves - shoe covers and disinfectant dips for shoes - change of clothes after each shed - honestly we are doing everything we possibly can.

My fear here is that currently with no income and having to pay the vet bills we’ve already accumulated and still needing money for feed/bedding/hay without a single bit of income I don’t know how I’m going to do it. I’m scared, I’m really scared.

I’m going to post the bank details on here and If anyone could spare any pennies to help us I would be so thankful and extremely grateful because my heart is broken, it’s numb and the future of this little farm feels like it’s slipping out my hands.

I’m trying my best I really am. I can’t believe it - I can’t get my head round it - and I’m struggling to carry on.

Thank you all for understanding- I appreciate you all so much and I really really hope we can get you all back to visit us as soon as we can but the animals will always be the priority ❤️
