Dan's pond visitor upset by the Nautilus Heron deterrent - kind of feel sad for the wee big fellow, but you do have to protect your fish.
Spring is arriving any day soon.

Amy's been busy today putting up our brand new Vitalin sign. Vitalin dog food has been around since before Noah's Ark and despite all the new whipper snapper brands that have come along over the eons they have still survived. Not the next chapter in this venerable companies history has arrived and we are happy to be part of their continuing odyssey.
Keep your eyes peeled as we will be giving out free samples of this excellent dog food next week! ๐๐ฆฎ๐โ๐ฆบ๐ฉ

Gyrodactylus sp.

Gyrodactylus Sp. Live bearing fluke (russian doll fluke/skin fluke)
Lots of things have the ability to damage your fish or cause them unnecessary stress, if you'd like to learn more about some of the nasties that can cause you harm join the team down at the shop on a Thursday evening between 6pm and 8pm
What's in your bottom drain and pipes?
A scrape of detritus from the bottom drains at the shop reveals a whole host of Rotifers and sludge worms. Whilst neither are particularly dangerous it's always a top idea to make sure your bottom drains are purged regularly.
Goldfish viewing column
The goldfish viewing column is a great way to feed and see your fish, the unique design allows for your food to be released under the column so that it floats to the top for the fish to eat. This allows you to see your goldfish up close and personal and check for any issues such as ulcers or fin rot.
And at just ยฃ50 it's a price that can't be beat.
Spare a thought for these two ever so inadequate would be theives, already chased off by the girls in Tahiti's they then tried to turn over the shop. Alas they couldn't quite work out how to open anything, and then to add insult to injury they got chased off by an 83 year old Thomas!
Well that's another late night finished with, loads going on with the arrival of the pond plants, a topical ulcer repair on a Doitsu Koi and a bit of bug hunting on another Koi.
Until tomorrow when we do it all again we'd like to wish you all a safe and pleasant evening.
Gyrodactylus SP. Live Bearing Fluke aka Russian Doll Fluke or older and obsolete name of Skin Fluke. The creature pulls itself along the fishes body by little hooks around the top of the picture. The large centre hook is to anchor itself to the fish so that it can eat. In the centre of the picture you can make out the Anchor or 'H' hook of the unborn baby which is already growing it's baby and it's babies baby. Hence the name Russian Doll Fluke.
This nasty looking piece of work can do serious damage to your fish and if left untreated can cause death. It must be treated whenever you find it. Only visible via microscope.
There is a second parasite visible, but we're let you work that one out. Or of course you can join us on Thursday nights at our Late Night Thursday Club from 6pm until 8pm ๐ ๐ก๐ฌ๐
