Sanson 1st Place Easton and Otley College Working Equitation National May 2024
Some highlights from Sansons winning round at the first Working Equitation National of the year at the weekend.
The course was really fun to ride as it had two bull lines in it with the pen in the middle. I was really pleased with how rhythmic Sanson stayed around this whole section, even with the added difficulty of me having to lean right off his side to get to the Vara as it was in the wrong position. In my head as I was approaching it, I was really telling myself off for not checking it before setting off, luckily my Mr Tickle length arms helped me out and I didn’t miss it but it was close.
Note for everyone competing, remember to check that the Vara is where you want it to be before you start your round and if it’s not you can ask for it to be moved but don’t move it yourself 👍🏻
Hope everyone had a fab bank holiday weekend ❤️
Kyloe Farm Working Equitation Clinic
Fab day teaching a Working Equitation clinic in the sunshine (AT LAST ☀️) at the gorgeous KYLOE FARM-Arena Hire
Well done everyone who came along, some really great progress from some of my regulars and yet more new people introduced to the sport 🙌🏻
We were treated to this marvellous sight of the Kyloe shires going out on some training during one of my sessions 😍
Thank you Nicola Manders for having me 🥰

Gorgeous Lorcan Working through a few of the obstacles today whilst he’s with me on training livery. Some of the objectives while he is here was to settle his anxiety about the gate, desensitise him to the noise the vara makes as it goes in and out of the barrels and to work on his turning with one hand while handling the vara. I worked on all of these with him today and I couldn’t be more pleased with him 😁❤️ love this little horse and how hard he tries to do what you’re asking 🥹
Working Equitation Clinics 9th and 10th March
Amazing day yesterday at the lovely Beechwood Equestrian Centre doing another Working Equitation clinic. Some new faces and lots of returning clients, really starting to see huge improvements from a lot of you now with loads of you practicing the movements required at home, I really love seeing the progress you are all making and really hope to see a lot of you out at our training comp league shows that we’re running at Beechwood through the summer months 🤩 we’re going to have so much fun 😁
Now I’m off to Woodredon Equestrian for a full day of introducing lots of people to Working Equitation, very excited to see you all and get you involved in this incredible sport!
Sanson say Happy Sunday everyone 🤣
Licor ABWE Regional Inter A at Brook Farm
And finally, new boy Licor ABWE Regional Inter A at Brook Farm.
Licor placed 2nd in the Inter A class, there were however only me and one other rider in the class but we won’t tell him that 🤣 having said that, the other rider wasn’t just anyone, it was Holly Barber who is one of the best WE riders in the country so I went into the comp knowing full well we were going to come 2nd 😄
Licor was unreal from start to finish across all 3 phases. His dressage was a very accurate and consistent test, we could have had a lot more power but I’m still learning how to ride him at the moment so I’m sure that will come as we do more together.
In the EOH we had a couple of blips down the slalom where he went a bit green going towards the seating area and dropped behind my leg so we missed a change, he also found the trees at the gate a bit terrifying when he first saw them but then he settled and did the gate nicely, the rest of the course was super and I was so pleased with him.
I then used my speed round as another EOH practice round to practice the parts where we had made mistakes and we got the changes in the slalom and went straight to the gate no problem so I was really chuffed with him!
I feel like I just click with this horse, I’m not sure what it is about him but I just absolutely adore everything about him, so excited for the long term plans with him 🤩
Yanqui
Wow now that was a whirlwind of a weekend! 43 riders taught over the last few days, lots of new combinations to Working Equitation and lots of fun had by all 🤩
Thank you to the three lovely venues for enabling me to run the clinics - BROOK FARM TC EVENTS Hemps Green Equestrian Ltd Fletchers Farm Riding School
I hope everyone who came to the clinics enjoyed themselves, keep practicing the movements required at each obstacle at home, they really are some great exercises to get you and your horses thinking 🙌🏻
I arrived home tonight with just enough daylight today to get a couple of my boys exercised which is always a bonus 😁 after I had lunged my 6 year old Yanqui, I spent some time with him in the arena. Sometimes I have so much going on with trying to get all of my horses exercised around doing the yard and teaching that I forget to just spend time with them for the love of it. Then when I do spend 20 mins just being with them with no objective just enjoying spending time with them like I did with Yanqui tonight it reminds me why I love these beautiful creatures as much as I do ❤️
Yanqui was a very nervous untrusting horse when he arrived with me 18 months ago, he didn’t see people as a positive thing so for him to choose to come and spend some time with me when he could’ve quite easily just gone and had a mooch around on his own is just such a lovely feeling!
My absolute favourite part about discovering Working Equitation is the element of the trust building between you and your horse and it works both ways, it enables us to build trust in them and them to build trust in us. There is no better feeling than your animals feeling safe with you ❤️
Beechwood EC Working Equitation Training Competition Monday 19th Feb 24
Had the most incredible day at the fabulous Beechwood Equestrian Centre running our first Working Equitation training competition today!
So much fun was had by all, I sat there in the judges box feeling mega proud of so many of my clients who came along today and rode like absolute rockstars 💪🏻🙌🏻👏🏻 well done to everyone who came along and gave it a go! I absolutely cannot wait for the next one now!
I think all of you are starting to understand why I preach so much about how great this sport is! Let’s keep spreading the word and showing everyone how much fun we have 😁
Here’s some video of the day - didn’t manage to get any Ease of Handling video but managed to get lots of the speed rounds 🚀🧨
Enjoy 🤩😘
Massive thank you to my amazing wing woman Kitty for scribing, videoing and just being super helpful all day and then putting all the horses to bed with me when we got home this evening 🙏❤️

Brook Farm Working Equitation Demo
Wow what a fab evening we had doing a demo at Brook Farm last night introducing another 60 people to what the sport of Working Equitation is all about 🤩
Massive thank you and well done to the amazing Hayley Reynolds who stood in as my demo rider, Hayley and Arnie did an outstanding job of showing how to work through the obstacles while I talked through them.
New boy Licor was thrown in the deep end and coped incredibly, considering he’s only been doing this for a very short time, by demoing the obstacles at Inter A level.
I would like to thank everyone who attended for coming, I hope you all enjoyed it and am looking forward to seeing a lot of you at future clinics, I’ve had a lot of bookings already so really excited to get people involved 🙌🏻
Working Equitation Clinic at Radley Green Equestrian
Just home from a very busy but fab day doing another Working Equitation clinic at the lovely Radley Green Equestrian with 16 horse and rider combinations today!
Highlight of my day was one of my regulars, Christelle and her gorgeous young horse Teddy. We did a practice course round at the end of the session without me saying a word to prepare for a training competition coming up and they absolutely smashed it! Teddy previously had some anxiety/tension at the gate which meant it was very difficult for Christelle to complete it fully on her own as he would always try to get away from it once he was on the other side but we have been working on it and today she did the gate completely by herself without my help and Teddy was very chilled and relaxed throughout. Christelle rode the whole round fantastically and it was a really proud trainer moment for me 🙌🏻🙏 well done lovely lady, massive pats for Teddy too ❤️
I love how much this sport enables us to build up the trust bond between us and our horses!

Working Equitation Giveaway Winner
🤩 Giveaway Winner Announcement 🤩
Firstly, I’m so sorry that I am only just announcing the winner! Sometimes running the yard, organising the clinics and trying to ride and compete all my horses means that I end up with the memory of a goldfish! It suddenly dawned on me today that I hadn’t done this on Christmas Day as I had said I would, maybe the Prosecco was slightly to blame for that too 🤣🙈
Anyway, thank you all for all of your entries 🙏
The winner of this giveaway is Shona Brown 🥳
Shona please message me to book into a clinic of your choice when you’re ready!
I will be running these giveaways monthly so please keep your eyes peeled for the next one 👍🏻
Also just one more thing, scammers tried to sabotage the original giveaway post by commenting to people on the post that they had won and using a link for people to click. Please don’t click any links in relation to the giveaways as I will never use a link system for it. Sorry to the couple of people that got caught out by the scammers!
