***Hospital cage set-up***

Thanks to F.W Whitechurch Ltd / Hutches n Stuff, we have this superb temporary home for Casper while she's on a strict regime, guided by

- UVB on for set periods each day
- AVIPRO in water
- Heating to 24 degrees (using reptile heat bulb and heat mat)
- Kept in the same room as the rest of the flock

💊 Baytril - 2 drops twice per day (12 hours apart)
💊 Prednisolone - 1/32th of a tablet 3 times a day
💊 Daktarin - pinhead amount twice per day
💊 Loxicom - 2 drops twice per day

^ ^^at least 30 mins, ideally 60 mins, in between the different meds (Prednisolone and Daktarin I'm able to do together)

I'm extremely grateful for the support from Tracey and Clive at West Barr, via - didn't know an app for communication to a vet was even a thing!

The medication regime has been painful for my ADHD brain, and the meds/care doesn't come cheaply, but I would sell my house, buy them (and the dogs) a static caravan to live in and I'd sleep in a tent to care for the animals if I needed to.

***FM OR PBFD?***

‼️Please proceed with caution if you/someone guesses that a feather-challenged cutie has French Moult (polyomavirus)

🪶 PBFD (circovirus) can present visually (certainly initially) as French Moult. PBFD has profound impacts on immunity and is very contagious.

👀 The only way to know, as reliably as possible, is via a PCR test, using an organisation like Avigenics or an avian vet (although the tests via Avigenics are £10 - wildly less than at a vets)

P.U.P.P.Y P.A.D.S?!!

Did you know, we use puppy training pads to line the bottom of our PBFD warrior home?

We do this because:

1️⃣ they absorb the mess well (helps a little with virus control)
2️⃣ they make it super easy to see if any of them have odd poops (given it's a great indicator of health, you look at poo a lot as a budgie owner 🤣)
3️⃣ they're padded, which is important for when the gang have slips and fall!

I might be on plain toast, but the birds will ALWAYS get the best ❤️
birdfood haul, including easisoak seed (newly sprouting seed brings a whole other nutritious dimension to their diet) lovely millet to soak in GEM Impact iodine solution and, of course clean seed.

F.O.R.A.G.I.N.G

Budgies (as with many other birds) dore forging and seeking out food with a little bit of a hunt (I mean, who doesn't love a treasure hunt?!)
The natural foraging instinct is real nectar for their minds and is all part of what helps them be the happiest little beans possible.

Thanks to the generosity of and her lovely daughter gifting us from our Amazon wishlist, this is the jackpot foraging our gang have today!
