A beautiful day for a sniffy walk 💓🐾 spring is on its way we even found some flowers on our way home!

We encourage our dogs to be curious and explore their surroundings, from the local woodland, to urban environments there is always so much to sniff and learn along the way.

Today we had a very special appointment to discuss our branding and uniforms and to design other equipment for our current dogs in training

Amazing local business Wuffable will be creating our vests, comfy settle mats and more for our clients and their assistance dogs

Wuffable manufacture quality gear for working dogs, and we have designed a lightweight small vest and lightweight bandanas for our dogs, suitable to wear with their Y front harness, for optimal comfort for our dogs

Our new website is ready for launch

Our current services include

1-1 online behaviour support - understanding and learning about your dogs behaviour, to help your dog to feel relaxed and settled within their home environment - £45

1-1 in person Wellness Walks on Cannock Chase - understanding and learning about your dogs behaviour whilst out and about together, within the beautiful surroundings of Cannock Chase forest and nature reserves - £65

Our approach is to provide for our dogs physical and mental needs, encourage natural behaviours and healthy social relationships, ensure environments are suitable and improve communication with our dogs, reduce stress and increase confidence and relaxation.

Not so long ago we had a lovely little dog come to us for help with her confidence around other dogs, the client had been working with another trainer and her dog had started running away and hiding when she picked up her dogs harness to get ready for a walk 😞

However after a couple of wellness walks here at Ethical Dog, some fun in the forest, a better understanding of body language, a change in lead handling and improving social interactions, we heard that the same little doggo was running TOWARD her harness, all happy and excited to get dressed for her walkies 😍

Obedience and control is often the focus with our dogs in dog training sessions, but here at Ethical Dog we like to share and see how our dogs are really feeling!

It’s always lovely to get feedback from clients but it’s even better when we get feedback from the dogs themselves 🩷🐾🌲

Autumn days with Ethical Dog 🍂

Did you know that walking in different environments through the changing seasons, with different textures can be great enrichment for your dog. It’s not just smells that are important but crunchy leaves underfoot, soggy grass to snuffle in and muddy puddles to sink their paws into are all great ways to keep your dogs and pups amused, curious and entertained on their walkies … and best of all it’s absolutely free 😊

Join us in the forest for a lovely relaxing wellbeing walk, where we will help you to teach and encourage slow walking, calm and relaxed behaviour and a peaceful environment. We will reduce frantic activity and movement and try to ensure your dogs are able to enjoy a calm and comfortable walk without any heavy panting, tense body language or rushing around. Remaining relaxed and steady means that are dogs are better able to cope with any distractions or enjoy some calm and relaxed social interactions 🩷🐾

On Sunday we have our monthly group meet for our dogs to interact and play 🐾 and of course for their handlers and families to spend time together

We will be doing our social walk with the doggos on Cannock Chase whilst learning about dog interactions, greetings, and different play styles 🩷

We will be helping to support the dogs in building healthy social relationships aswell as supporting our clients to better understand their dogs communication and body language around other dogs 🐕

Encouraging healthy dog - dog relationships are so important for our dogs and learning about how to read dog body language can really help our clients to feel more comfortable and confident around other dogs 😊

Freedom, choice and exploration 😍👌🏼 and three happy dogs!

We need to stop focusing on constant control and commands and give our dogs enough time to think and feel and process the beautiful world around them in the way that they know best 🌲

This not only helps their physical and mental wellbeing but can also improve confidence, independence and trust 🐾

Take a step back, find the right environment and go enjoy some quiet free time with your dog, without the pressure of training, your dog will thank you for it 🥰

They’ve been on the same walkies in the same place all off lead and we have two clean, dry doggos … and one muddy one 🤣

It’s always little Happy poodle that’s straight in the puddles! She absolutely loves water and mud and splashing around and it is very much encouraged by us 🩷

We build our relationship by focusing on how our dogs feel whilst around us and interacting with us 🥰 not by worrying about what behaviour they display when we tell them what to do

These two are having a great time with their noses to the ground exploring, making their own choices and enjoying the freedom they need whilst feeling settled and comfortable in our company 🩷 we don’t need to use obedience or training during their free time or to build our bond, we just all spend quality time together

We put our dogs needs first for calm and happy doggos and a strong positive relationship 😊

As dog professionals we can pretend we already know everything, repeat the same old things or make it up as we go along

Or instead we can study, learn and grow 🥰 And more specifically buy (or borrow) brilliant books packed full of scientific studies to read and research on our days off 😁

Anything I can do to get a better understanding of our doggos needs, welfare and wellbeing will always be worth it 🩷

Especially within the assistance dog sector, our dogs can save and change lives, their welfare and needs are absolutely essential for a good working relationship between our clients and their incredible dogs

Garden visits with friends or family can be a fantastic sensory enrichment experience for your dogs. Also a great social experience for your dogs if you meet with canine friends that they are happy and comfortable with

Social relationships, healthy social interactions and lots of free time sniffing and exploring at their own pace is essential for our dogs health and happiness especially for our working dogs 🩷🐾
