Dr Eve Aron - Veterinary Surgeon

Eve graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2017 and started working for the Willows in May 2023 at Acorn Vet Centre on the Wirral. She moved to Laurels Vets in June 2024 😊

Eve loves doing surgery and is currently undertaking a Small Animal Surgery Certificate. She owns a 2 year old Labrador called Griff who is super cute! 🥰

In her spare time, Eve enjoys running with Griff, skiing and travelling! 🌎

Remember Santa's Little Helper who we posted back in March?! He came back to see us last week and he's grown so much!! 😱

He's now 5 months old and weighs 25kg compared to 9kg back then! He's still as handsome as ever though!! 😍😍

Dr Nicole Liesching - Veterinary Surgeon

Nicole moved to the UK from South Africa in May 2023 and started working at Beech House Vets in Warrington. She moved to the Laurels Vets in October 2023. Her specific interests as a Vet are in dermatology and medicine.

She has a 7 year old dog called Annie-May who she adopted during lockdown when living in South Africa. Annie-May loves going on adventures and stealing her Dad's side of the bed! 😂

In her spare time, Nicole enjoys going on long walks with Annie-May, running and baking! 🍰

⭐ MEET THE TEAM! ⭐

Dr Philippa Bradley - Clinical Director/Veterinary Surgeon

Philippa started working for the Willows in September 2011 when she started at Beech House Vets before moving to manage Orford Lane Vets in September 2016. She helped to open the new Birchwood surgery in 2017 and then moved to the Laurels Vets as Clinical Director in January 2023 🩺

She really enjoys soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, and enjoys the variety first opinion practice has to offer. From seeing a new client with their new puppy or kitten, to helping an older pet enjoy their retirement years 🥰

She has four dogs at home: Ollie 15, Millie 10, Savannah 6 and Rebel 18 months. They enjoy lots of walks and Philippa competes at agility with Savannah and Rebel, since Millie has retired. She has competed at Crufts and Olympia with both Millie and Savannah and hopes to get there again one day 🏅

💕 WILLOW 💕

Meet the adorable Willow who came to visit us last week to be spayed. Willow was a very good girl and enjoyed lots of cuddles from all the staff! 🥰

Here she is sporting her super cute recovery medivest to stop her from licking at her wound 💖 She has been in for a post-op check with the nurse and is recovering really well since her surgery! 😊

⭐ VETERINARY NURSE AWARENESS MONTH! ⭐

May is Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month and this year it is celebrating its 20th Anniversary! 🎉 Veterinary Nurses have a very important and varied role within the practice. They possess a wide range of clinical skills and can also specialise in areas such as anaesthesia or consultations 🩺

Our nursing team at the Laurels consists of 3 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 2 Student Veterinary Nurses and 2 Animal Care Assistants. They all work together, along with the Vets, to give your pets the best possible care when they visit us at the practice ❤️

⭐ SCHOOL VISIT! ⭐

On Friday, the lovely children from St Edwards Catholic Primary School Class 1 came to visit us as they had been learning about vets! 🩺😊

Caron and Rachael talked to them and answered the questions they had such as 'How do you help the animals?' and 'What kind of things do you do in your job?'

They then got to meet Rebel who was a very good girl and allowed lots of pats and strokes! 🥰🥰

💛🐕‍🦺 HAPPY INTERNATIONAL GUIDE DOG DAY!! 🐕‍🦺💛

To celebrate International Guide Dog Day we'd like to introduce one of our regular clients, Elvis! 💕

⭐ Elvis is a retired Guide Dog who started aiding his partially sighted owner in 2013. He assisted his owner for 6 and a half years with day-to-day jobs like shopping and attending appointments.

Elvis occasionally showed his cheeky side when he would take food that his owner dropped, however he was a very good boy and focused on not getting distracted by people trying to stroke him when he was busy guiding his owner! 🥰

When Elvis wasn't helping his owner, he was a normal bouncy labrador who enjoyed running and playing with his toys! 😁

12 year old Elvis is now retired and enjoys life at a leisurely pace and has been fortunate enough to stay with his owner who loves him very dearly! ❤️

🐾💕 TIA 💕🐾

Last week the adorable Tia, a 1 year old Pomeranian, came to visit us at the practice to be neutered. When her Mum first dropped her with us she was very nervous and worried however she soon warmed to us after lots of love and cuddles! 🥰🥰

🩷 She looked so pretty in pink after we put her post-op medivest on that we couldn't resist but give her a cute pink brave bow too! 😍

⚠️🍫 EASTER DANGERS 🍫⚠️

With it being Easter this weekend, there is bound to be an influx of chocolate treats around the house and garden! 😋 However, care must be taken as chocolate is toxic to dogs and cats! ⚠️

If an animal ingests even the smallest amount of chocolate, it can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, excessive thirst and in severe cases can even cause seizures and heart failure 💔

⭐ Please take care over the weekend and make sure all chocolate products are out of reach of our furry friends! 🐶🐱

📞 If your pet ingests any chocolate then please call the practice immediately on 01928 575515. When we are closed over the Bank Holiday, the phones will automatically divert to our Out of Hours practice Beech House Vets in Warrington.

🐾❤️ CHARLIE ❤️🐾

Charlie is an adorable 3 month old Shih Tzu puppy who came to see us at the practice because his owners were concerned about him. Charlie had gone from being a bright bouncy boy to suddenly having multiple bouts of sickness within an hour of eating his breakfast 😔

His owners brought him straight down to the practice where he received a check over from Vet Philippa 🩺 He was given an anti-sickness injection and he stayed with us so that we could monitor him. Within a couple of hours he was feeling much brighter, the sickness had stopped and he was happily tucking into the food we gave him (see video in comments)! 🥰

Thanks to Charlie's owner's quick reactions he recieved the care he needed and was soon back to his usual bright happy self! ❤️

⭐ TICK SEASON ⭐ Over the last week we have had multiple dogs come to the practice with ticks including this massive one! 😱 🕷️ Ticks are blood sucking creepy crawlies that climb onto dog's fur as they brush past. They tend to attach to areas around the dog's head, neck, ears and feet. Ticks are common in woodland, grassland and heath areas but can also be found in your garden! 🌱 Ticks pass infections from one animal to another and transmit microbes that cause diseases such as lyme disease and babesiosis 😷 Please call the practice on 01928 575515 if you believe your pet has a tick or you would like to discuss preventative treatment 📞
