Due to being called out to work abroad on the Week of the 17th February. I have had to make a small change to the Puppy School dates.

The dates for the next course are as follows
Wednesday 5th Feb
Wednesday 12th Feb
Wednesday 26th Feb
Wednesday 5th March.

It is still a 4 week course but with a gap on the 15th February. I will still be on WhatsApp to support all my Puppy School Clients during this time and I have also added an extra FREE BONUS

We will do an outdoor session at an agreed date and time towards the end of March. Now who else is going to make an offer of free training like that.

Sometimes I am called abroad for training jobs, it is not often but when it comes along it is hard to turn down.

Get in touch if you would like a place on the Puppy School in Feb as I still have couple of places available.

As we all know around about a year ago the XL Bully type was banned in the UK. Meaning that they can't be Purchased/Bred/Sold/Rehomed. They have to have a microchip and an exemption certificate and have to be Spayed or Neutered. All owners have to put muzzles on them when out and take make measures to make sure they can't escape or slip the lead.

Regardless of how this makes us feel, it is now the law and we have know choice but to take it seriously. The number of XL Bullies in the UK was greatly under estimated and many of these were put to sleep.

Again, as predicted by many, another type of Dog is now in the frame and come under media scrutiny. The Italian Mastiff or Cane Corso has made headlines due to some recent attacks on people.

However the Government have stated that they are not considering a ban at this time, but does this mean they won't in the not to distant future. From our perspective these types of dogs will always attract the wrong kind of owners. They are indeed another status dog, with the huge muscular build and weighing in fully grown up to 55KG. At the same time there are thousands of responsible owners of the Cane Corso in the UK. We have first hand experience as Jenni has trained more than 100 of them in the past three years.

So with this said we are wondering what others think on this subject?

Is it time to bring back a dog license after the Government scrapped this in the late 1980's?

Should they license all dogs or just the bigger and potentially more lethal types/Breeds?

Or maybe licenses are not the way to go, instead should there be more education and mandatory training of dogs?

With 13 million homes in the UK owning at least one dog, I do think it is time for the authorities to take ownership of some legislation around dogs. Or perhaps we will just see more bans on certain breeds in the future. I always feel for the dogs I'm a dog person after all. Isn't time we focus on the owners.

We would love your opinions on this subject, please share with your doggy friends so we can get there opinions too..

One of the advantages to being a client of ours is that every once in a while we do some free stuff!!

Today saw a group of our puppy clients that could make it to Jenni’s free training walk. It was amazing to catch up with them all and see the progress that they have made over the months.

We love to offer a bit more than the average dog training business. It’s part of the reason why we have the best reputation around the area.

Some shots of our newest puppy school graduates. Another fun group that learned so much over our 4 weeks together. All the puppies were absolute angels. They all learned how to stay engaged with their families even with the distractions of other puppies in the room.
Don’t listen to the nonsense about how puppy school can create problems. When you are in the hands of a professional behaviourist that has 26 years under her belt, it’s safe to say that you will only set yourself and your dogs up for a bright future.
We have a couple of spaces left for our next course starting on Weds Nov 20th 19.00-20.00 Britford village hall.
Please visit our website for more details and then get in touch to reserve your place…..

Update on previous post regarding Lupus.
Things have gone from strength to strength for Tasmine and her lovely boy. We do have some video footage coming which shows the difference, but time to edit them together has been difficult to find with the hectic schedule we have. For now we will share the recent review of our service that Tas shared and will update once more when the video is completed.

So September Perfect puppy school is officially closed. Four weeks of fun and learning, 13 dogs and 26 family members over two classes starting at 6.45 and ending at 9pm.

No one sent to the back of the class (as we sit in a circle) no one told there puppy is to loud or to over excited.

Teaching in this environment, keeping it all inclusive is a skill very few can master correctly. Jenni is just a natural at delivering a first class service in a friendly and caring way. 26 years of dog behaviour training is the perfect qualification and who better to help you get it right from the start!!

Puppies were not allowed to over socialise in fact the complete opposite they learned to focus on the training and their owners rather than all the other pups in the room .

So we now prepare for our October School starting next Wednesday. 🐾🐶🦴

Today’s behaviour training took me to Gillingham. We worked on engagement with Nox’s owner and set up with a better lead arrangement. Will be returning for part 2 in a few weeks.

When Helen contacted us she was at the end of her tether. Jess was displaying uncontrollable behaviour. Coming from the streets is not surprising she acted this way. But training with Jenni has changed the lives of Jess and her owners. Her rehabilitation is apparent. Her improvement is going from strength to strength. She is even off lead at times enjoying a play with dogs that before she would have been reacting too. Training Jess was challenging but her owners took to it like ducks to water. So hats off for listening, learning and applying the training. The review they left says it all. When you are at the end of your tether, don’t give up. Book Jenni and reap the rewards. She never lets you down !!

The Prong Collar debate!!

For as many years as I can remember there has always been a difference of opinions regarding the use of Prong Collars. I admit that both sides of the argument have valid reasoning. For me it is a tool that I have never needed to use. I have trained thousands of dogs that pull or lunge on the lead. In fact I have de-pronged many a dog that has come to me. Once those owners realise you can train them ethically and humanely without the need of the prong collar, they were happy to ditch them.

It is so easy to get into a debate as to whether they are good or bad. There are pictures online of the injures they can cause. Many articles written about the psychological damage they can inflict. On the flip side there are many that debunk the "Prong collars hurt" theory and in return they use that flat collars are worse for dogs as it can crush the trachea.

We can all make our own choices I guess!! For me, after 26 years in the business. I use differing lead combinations that work for different size dogs and people. It feels ethical and ultimately brings the results. It also sits well with the majority of dog owners and my clients.

The debate will continue however and although there are talks of banning them, I don't see this happening for many years to come.

Just remember that prong collars are classed as positive punishment and not as positive reinforcement.
