As always any questions you have regarding how physio can help your animals just get in touch always happy to have a chat.
Physio is beneficially to any horse and pony; not just those that are ridden, compete, have an injury or older. Here is gorgeous Carter, he is only 3 years old and still unbacked, this weekend he enjoyed his first physiotherapy treatment. Despite his young age he took the whole session in his stride; he is so sweet. His owner decided to have him treated to make sure his muscloskeletal system is healthy and balanced before she introduces him to work, which is a great way to identify any niggles and address them before they develop into problems and potentially affect his attitude to work too. Carter will be enjoying regular maintenance physio to make sure he is happy and comfortable as he begins working and is introduced to more new things as he grows up. Injury prevention is always best. His owner is taking advantage of joining my maintenance physio loyalty scheme giving her every 4th treatment half price.

Something people say to me time and time again is their horse or dog has arthritis so there’s nothing can be done, this is not true.
Yes established arthritis is a degenerative condition it can’t be cured or reversed however physiotherapy can improve quality of life and slow deterioration, treat compensatory pain and discomfort which is left untreated can speed up joint deterioration. Surrounding muscles will compensate for joint pain resulting in adhesions and spasm developing within them further reducing joint range of movement. Physiotherapy using PEMF, therapeutic ultrasound, massage and stretching will treat muscle, break down adhesions and help maintain joint health and improve joint function. Neck and back pain is common in animals with arthritis as the body adjusts movement to avoid pain in the affected joints, another area physiotherapy treatment is hugely beneficially Physiotherapy also includes recommended exercises for you as an owner to continue in-between visits, keeping your dog or horse as comfortable and happy as possible.
If you’d like to discuss how I can help your horse, dog or other animal or to book please contact me by personal message, text or call 07884011336 or email [email protected]
Merry Christmas everyone! I have two very happy chestnut ladies today, they love their new hay balls x
Had a lovely morning earlier this week catching up with Margo and treating her beautiful Cleo and handsome Sammy.
3 months ago when I first saw Cleo she had recently been diagnosed with cushions and started prascend and daily bute; she was stiff, with tension through her neck, shoulders and back and not her usual self. Now she is off bute happy confident, her muscles have improved so much, she’s put weight on, got a lovely coat and moving fantastically; she is back to her old self!
Very handsome Sammy is doing brilliant; he is so calm and relaxed now. The tension in his back has gone and the muscles are beginning to regain suppleness. He is also showing huge improvement with his leg stretches and carrot stretches.
Cleo and Sammy are members of my loyalty scheme, they are showing so much improvement and enjoying the benefits of routine regular maintenance physiotherapy including –
• Increases physical and mental relaxation
• Improves performance and behaviour
• Increases joint range of movement
• Increases circulation and lymphatic drainage
• Increases flexibility, elasticity and suppleness of soft tissues
• Reduces muscular soreness, tension and stiffness
• Reduces the risk of injury
• Identifies and addresses small issues before they affect performance and cause lasting damage
Your horses could benefit from regular maintenance physio too; there are so many benefits I offer a loyalty scheme to help you offering every forth treatment half price. To book or discuss call or text me 07884011336, personal message me or email [email protected]
The concept of a physio appointment is very new to a lot of people and I often get what happens at your appointment.
When you contact me to book your animal in if it is the first time I will be seeing them, I’ll take some details off you and contact your vet for veterinary consent to treat. All qualified animal physiotherapist will do this; as a physio you must work only with veterinary consent under the 1962 Veterinary Exemption Order. Once I have this I will come and see your animal at a convenient time for you.
At your appointment I will meet your animal first while they are getting introduced and getting to know me we can have a chat about them and any concerns you have. It is so important they get to meet and feel happy without rushing straight into a treatment. I will then assess how your animal moves; you can gain and an insight into how the muscles and joints are working from subtle indications in movement. Next I will assess them by touch; looking for tension, soreness, discomfort before beginning their treatment
At every appointment your animal will received a full body massage; this is so important as the body is very intricate and so interlinked any even slight tension or discomfort anywhere will affect how the body moves as a whole and will create compensatory problems. All the areas of tension will be addressed and if your animal has a specific condition the treatment will be tailored to this. They usually love a full massage too and it also allows me to assess deeper into the muscles and address any niggly little problems before they can develop into bigger problems.
Your treatment will includes any beneficial treatment with phototherapy, pulsed electromagnetic therapy and therapeutic ultrasound; these are all included in the appointment price, there are no hidden extra charges.
I always work at your animals pace; like us every animal is different. If they are wary and unsure we slow everything down ensure they remain calm and happy. Physiothe
