We just wanted to update you all on our current situation.
We are still working on fencing and the mess created by the snow and flooding on the farm.
Where the animals are is almost sorted but unfortunately the main entrance to the farm is not

Due to safeguarding and the many risk assessments we have done(and discussions woth our insurers) its just not safe to reopen as yet.

We are working really hard to try to fix this.

We wanted to be open by now but sadly the elements haven't been in our favour.

The costs are spiralling with trying to do the work and just the cost of running the farm. So we are working as fast as we can.

We have also had some unhelpful person repeatedly throw barbed wire over our fence, which 4 times now we have found Torvi with it wrapped in her tail.

Our go fund me is still open and we would be so incredibly grateful for any donations.

He desperately needs a friend and our wonderful George would be a perfect companion for him to live his days with us at the farm.

We are heartbroken to share the news that we have lost Moana.

Our warrior girl took a turn over the weekend and sadly passed away despite our best efforts over the last 6 weeks to save her.

She was laid with her friends, with a tummy full of food in a place she loved and felt relaxed and happy.

She was loved and adored to the very end.

This loss feels difficult as not only is it our first loss but it comes as we so desperately work to save the farm.

Fly free over rainbow bridge Moana, we will miss you so much 💔

Pippas been pretty poorly with chickenpox amd today is the first day she felt up to going out.... when I say this pony genuinely loves children, he just adores them and clearly the feeling is mutual.

There is no better sound than a child's giggle.

We've been super quiet lately due to 2 small children with a really nasty bout of chicken pox that has totally wiped them out, sleep is a a rare privilege currently

BUT I did get time to do a small video of how Barney is under the impression I'm his own personal scratching post.

He is by far the goat with the biggest personality!

We are now trying to rush to get our paddocks and shelter done before the incoming cold and possibly snowy weather!

I promised some good news, so here it is.
This week we welcomed Cody (the shetland) amd Tori (Selle Francais) to the farm.
Cody will be used for our smaller visitors to be able to groom and snuggle, something he is super excited about because he LOVES little people!

Tori is going to show the huge differences in horses, in the body structure, temperament, movement and the way we care for them.

You'll get to meet them when we open back up!

Once the ice starts to thaw (hopefully next week) We can continue the work on the paddocks.

Things have been so chaotic and unpredictable weather is not being our friend right now.

We have also have our own small being struck down with chickenpox!

Has anyone else's children been hit with one of the many illnesses?

We have some sad news to share with you all tonight.
Last weekend Merida gave birth to a perfect but stillborn lamb.
We had suspicion that she may be pregnant so we had been checking her very regularly over the last few weeks. The day before I'd checked her thoroughly and she had shown ZERO signs of being pregnant never mind giving birth. We went to the next day as we normally do to find this perfect little boy in the field, we suspect he was stillborn. We had only just missed it because he was warm, mum was very much still contracting.
Following this we got her into the stable with her best friend Queenie worried that she wasn't passing the afterbirth, after advice from our experienced sheep farmer friends we gave her time, this didn't produce anything so once again a call went into our amazing vets.
They came down straight away, checked there was no further lamb, gave antibiotics and painkillers and luckily our girl is OK.
She's still in the stable with Queenie. Eating away and recovering.
(We are keeping a very close eye on Queenie too and had the vet give her a once over too)

With some personal sadness going on its not been the start to the year we had hoped for. 😔

Yesterday we were greeted with horrific standing water throughout most of our paddocks amd today we had ice everywhere.

Luckily all animals are doing fantastic. They have tummies full of hay and feed, shelters full of straw and keeping them dry and warm.

We have some of our less hardy goats tucked up in the stable and some sheep recovering amd getting some tlc too.

Work on paddocks had started but with standing water and now frozen ground it's halted any work.

We are hoping we can get on with it all soon.

On a positive note everyone is OK. We are on potential lamb watch for any further surprise lambs so currently doing night visits too.

Tomorrow we will share some really exciting news but today we wanted to share the downs as we always said we would.

For now here's a picture of me medicating Merida and giving her the snuggles she's become quite accustomed to.
(After she had given birth she was rubbing her nose against me in what I hope was finding comfort)

I've never met a sheep that loves a cuddle and kiss more than Twinkle.
She's runs over to you bleating. She lays her head on your shoulder, pushes her face into yours for a smooch.
She knows she's loved this one.

We are so lucky to have such an amazing variety in our sheep. ♥️
